Tysm for this! I love gaming and I honestly never thought i could never enter the gaming industry cause I’m not an artist or a coder. I think this is the perfect path for me to enter the industry

As Alex said, there's no limit when you're designing for games. I work in digital products and sometimes I wish I could just get out of the box and design something diferent. But I understand that design for function don't have the same freedom as design for entertainment. Very curious to work in a game project some day.

Honestly, I think its crucial to know the presenters background before you go on to take their advice, no? A lot of the time here on youtube you have millions of 'top tips and tricks' videos from people who you're not even sure if work in the industry or not.

First off. Great talk. Anna I really like your medium articles. quick question for both of you coming from someone currently working at a design agency as a UX designer. What for you both was the biggest change or thing you needed to relearn when starting working on games instead of web/apps?

There is a wonderful ELVTR course called "UX/UI for Gaming". I took a course in 2021 with the instructor, Ivy Sang, and it was awesome + you get a wonderful cohort of fellow learners to talk to. You leave the course with lots of material for a gaming focused UX portfolio also.

In my own project, the question I've been asking myself is "Does the player need to know about this?" I would assume the player would like to know what specifically, by name, is active and how much time it has left. But if that information wasn't displayed, would that make the game difficult to play? I don't think so. I think this is a grey area which I have no answer for. Right now, the UI can be cluttered depending on how many events are going on. I have set aside the space to display them, but I don't know if that's even necessary for most of it.

overall it seems like ux is getting better in both standard products and games. but i think games still suffer from walking the same line between accessibility and entertainment. it's not fair to call things like instagram UI boring. obviously people engage with that app more than they do any video game. also, can you really stare at persona UI all day vs. instagram UI? i love game UX, especially the new Kirby on Switch. but I think both industries have a lot to learn from each other

I love this. I have always been fascinated with UI design ever since I was little! I was really curious what the odds are for a UX/UI designer to get into the games industry? Also.. would it be any benefit for someone to be able to produce their own sounds and soundtracks? Thats pretty much where my expertise lies.

Great little insight in this video, My name is Charlie S, I have a project to be developed into a game, i played that Spartan Total Warrior by SEGA and creative assembly on the PS2, it was a little Gem of a game, it was so great, i think you guys should make a total war game on the Play station, but where you play as one character at a time, i was wondering if any one could help me out on here with a contact or some one who could point me into the right direction in helping me getting my project developed into a game, NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE IN GAMING and i think it could possible be the Number 1 of it's genre. The game will be timeless classic and have that great game FEEL to it, also with 5 different types of games before the MAIN Campaign story line, with the option of going on line too, which will be so so epic

Hello, we recommend studying Graphic design, mastering basic design principles and having an overview of what a design system is and how it would work for UI Art. You can find further useful information on games careers over at one of our education partners websites, IntoGames: intogames.org/role/ui-designer
