Because of Sir Robert Peel, 2nd Baronet, FRS (1788-1850) the person who established the modern British police. If Bob was one's uncle, poor people supposed, then one would have nothing to be concerned about when it came to the police.

"That's the Business! " was a phrase that the Italian immigrants used to say in America... There accent made it sound like the Bee's Knee's.... Hard to believe I know, but its true :)
@Balloonbot6 жыл бұрын
I think for "Bob's your uncle" (incase anyone actually wants to learn with your tingles) - its usually used when explaining a task or giving a set of instructions. For example: "You go up the road, turn left at the lights and Bobs your uncle - you're there". Its not usually used as an exclamation of completion like "Et Voila!". Thanks for passing on our endearing vernacular though Lucy.
@CreativeCalmASMR6 жыл бұрын
It can be used it many ways, including for example if you finished putting together some flat pack furnisher, you may say something like ‘there you go, bobs your uncle, told you it would be easy!’.

For your interest, the Online etymological dictionary attests that skive first appearing in our language from Norse; "split or cut into strips, pare off, grind away," from a Scandinavian source such as Old Norse skifa "to cut, split," from Proto-Germanic *skif-, from PIE root *skei- "to cut, split." Related: Skived; skiver; skiving.
