@CreativeHiveCo3 жыл бұрын
Etsy reviews belong to Etsy, so unfortunately you can't transfer them to your website. You can ask your customers if they could write a new review for your site, but you can't take the existing ones from Etsy.

Very nice. Sounds like you're describing the process that I went through years ago going from a Yahoo! store to our own domain. I told my partner not to freak out that we were no longer the on the first page of Google, that it was going to take a little bit of time to switch everything over, all the links and press, and that was true. Since it's been so long it does feel like starting from scratch because so much has changed. But not as much as you would think.

This is Nora from ASAD! I just tried out the Easy Import, it seems to have worked pretty well? Certainly better than when I tried to export the CSV files and import them manually, and Shopify got all grumpy because the spreadsheet was missing a bunch of columns that they considered essential (but aren't a part of any Etsy listing). I had error messages for each item, and basically just trashed them all and did input manually (this was a few months ago). This time around, I basically started from scratch, wiped all those old entries, and used the Easy Import app; no error messages, first try. Still have to go fill in some stuff manually, like the collection and shipping info, but just glad I don't have the dumb error messages!

Hi Nora! That's amazing that it worked so much better this time around! Your first go-around sounds super frustrating, but how awesome not to see any errors now!

The only reliable resource for info on Trademarks is the USPTO. www.uspto.gov/trademark Not to cut in here, Mei, but this is an area most people have no clue about how it really works or what it means. :) I used to do the research, registrations and even the filings for clients. Yes, even the cease and desist letters. Ugh.

Mei, would it be against the Etsy rules if you mention in your Etsy listings to head over to your new shopify site? with a giveaway or discount incentive? or can you tell them that etsy charges fees, and if they want to get your products cheaper they should head to your website?
@CreativeHiveCo3 жыл бұрын
It's most definitely against Etsy's terms of use and they can shut you down for that. The best way to drive those Etsy customers to your site is with the marketing materials you send with Etsy orders.

Hello my dear, thanks for helping all of us in transition. If I import my listings and other data from My existing Etsy store, will my Etsy store get closed or get emptied or still remains as is? As I want to keep my Etsy store running also alongside with my new shopify store. Thanks
@CreativeHiveCo4 жыл бұрын
If you import your listings, it is just a copy of them to help make the process easier. Your shop will not be empty unless you delete your listings, and you would have to physically close your Etsy shop. Good luck with the transition and congrats on opening a Shopify store!

Some of the most successful and high profit stores have free themes so you can save on the cost of a paid theme when you are starting, and even after. There is a video showing why some of these store owners (Some are well known and recognised store owners) chose to stay with free themes.

Hi! This will completely be up to you. If you have a really unique name or business, perhaps you can consider it but I still suggest you conduct a research first (or ask for experts' advice on this area) before you decide if you'd like to trademark or copyright your shop name.

for years of making top quality candles, incense and perfume oils, we are still struggling to get more sales. A family run business since 1993 and yet so much cheaply made products get the sales. We have candles that you will not find anywhere on the internet because of molds we purchased back in the early 90's and when the factory Pourette burned with all the mother molds, the hundreds of those molds we already had are not to be found. Mostly these are figurines and unusual shapes for candles. Anyway, I"m going to take your advice and start a Shopify. I've been on eBay since 1999 and also on Etsy and others, but not much in sales all this time. I even had an Amazon shop at one time. I have enjoyed your expertise and hope to gain from what you have taught me here. Besides our candle business I have an extensive line of hand crocheted items I make myself, but have only had a minimal amount of success and mostly sold to friends. Etsy is not a big part of my success so I've come to you for help. Thank you. I'm subscribed to your channel now and am pleased with what I have learned so far. I'm going to start the Shopify adventure now. My website links us to facebook and I need to clean it up. It's at www.roseofsharoncandles.com Thanks for any help you have time to give me.
