Just now researching about king bettas , I recently got one ! His name is Odin , when he is swimming , his bottom area sinks down. It seems that he can’t keep himself up , but he still swims all over the place. To me it doesn’t look like anything I know of, so I’m just looking for some input !! Anything is helpful , thanks for your time !!

I got a "king" from Petco that looked much like him. He was cellophane with turquoise spots, but he completely changed into multiple shades of blue and turquoise...looks like a completely different fish now, still beautiful. He's in a 10g with 2 nerite snails and never met a food he doesn't like. It's amazing how they change color. I too am finding I prefer the shorter fins and more active it seems.

Nice unusual color pattern in his scales. You chose well, hopefully as he matures he will also ignore his neighbor for the most part. I agree with you, I prefer plakets; overall they seem to be healthier than their fancy fin-ed counterparts.

The plakat is my favorite betta too. Been seeing this larger “King betta” in petco when I go for dog food. Like to get one but unsure if 5 gallons would be large enough for him

Nice! I just got a giant a few weeks ago too. Name for yours Mr. Speckles (Speck). I completely agree with plakats over all other bettas. Personally I don't even buy long finned bettas anymore and think they should probably not even breed them any longer. This is my personal opinion and stems from a rose tail that I had that struggled to even move after his fins got entirely too heavy. My giant, Cloud, is a blue and white marble.

Cool Video. Very nice Betta. I am recently revisiting Bettas in indoor Ponds, these Giants would work and look awesome in a Pond, or large bowl or shallow cylinder. I am relearning and enjoying The way Bettas interact with people from above, is very cool....and cute. He is a very impressive fish, and yes I'd Love to see more of him, but not in a pond of course, you'd have to get another Giant Betta for that, lol. All the best. Cheers

I've been working on setting up my 20long community tank since Aquashella Dallas. It's got 3 mini sponge filters across the back and I've been treating some neons for ich (this is why you quarantine) and I've finished the quarantine on a new male double tail betta to try with other fish. I love seeing bettas in community tanks (when you've got the correct tank mates for them) and I definitely want to get some endlers to add too. (You may have inspired me 😉)

Mine is definitely the most docile Betta I have seen, he has no interested in male guppies or anything else really. I don't think I would try to keep them with other Betta,but they are for sure my number 1 betta choice for community tanks now.

Ppl also say that you should card your bettas. I have split tanks and sectioned them off for bettas about a year ago. I noticed the stress levels of the fish went up and they started to get sick. I had my tanks like yours cuz I fallowed your video. I have noticed that they like it much better to have their own tank and not to share. I play with my fish. I get the to chase the tweezers. Or to flare and chase my finger. I do not card them. They have full view of each other. They all work out in the am and in the pm. They all flare at each other for about a half hour a day. I just picked up a giant the other day. He was in a petco cup. He could stretch his fins he is so big nor could he turn around.
