I stayed in the National Forest campground in New Hampshire's White Mountains last year. I researched where to boon dock, found a site, but it didn't feel right, so I went to the campground and paid $15/night. Later, I was complimenting the campground host about how quiet the campground was--I was relieved and surprised, as I thought with so many campers it would be noisy. She told me that if people are noisy, she kicks them out and they go to the "boon docking" spots. If I had not followed my intuition, I would have had a noisy camp without water. Also, there was one (more expensive) Forest Service campground that had showers, but I didn't need to be camping in that campground to use the shower! I was able to shower and do 2 loads of laundry for $6 ! It was clean and dog-friendly. That campground with more amenities was congested...campsites right next to each other...I wouldn't have had my "solitude in Nature" experience if I had done more than shower/laundry there. That was my first time out, and I learned that my intuition, and willingness to ask the local shop keepers and forest service personnel how to create the experience I was after, worked wonderfully.

Robin, Thank you so much for your videos. Recently I left my full time job and spent 12 weeks on the road with my family ( 8000 miles around the US). I would love to full time but my oldest is a senior in high school so we don’t want to mess up her last year. I am a dad of three girls and have made all my girls watch your videos. I have used you (and my wife because she is awesome) as a demonstration of a strong independent women that do not let society dictate their role in the world. I can only hope that they take these great examples in life and make their own journey as they see fit! I have been frustrated with so many channels that highlight the “risks” of being a solo woman nomad (or just a woman in general). It sends such a bad message to my girls that they need to be afraid simply because they are women... I won’t accept that. Your message is different and a refreshing inspiration for the young women out there facing those risks (whether a nomad or not). I truly believe that gender doesn’t matter, the world is full of risks everywhere no matter a man or woman. Only those that are prepared properly, have the courage and self-fortitude to face those risks head on smartly can achieve their own dreams and will ever really achieve their definition of fulfilling life; whether it be as a nomad, a professional, a parent or whatever their ambition chooses! While the reality of physical differences does exist between men and women, I have worked with each of them so they are fully equipped to manage any situation they face. Frankly I think my girls would be better prepared in any emergency and able to protect themselves ( and others) more than any of the young men I see these days. I know you didn’t set out on your journey to necessarily inspire the young women of the world (my condolences to your family for the loss of your sister), but I wanted you to know that the path you have chosen is inspiring young women more than you could ever imagine! Please keep up the journey and feel confident to reach out to me if there is anything ( can’t figure out how to bold and underline this word) I could do to help you on your path to continue inspiring others! Best wishes, Dad of three girls and husband of an amazing woman!

Hi Robin,Good morning! Another great video! We found that staying in the national parks was great, especially since we are seniors, they let you stay for half price so most of the National parks are from 10 to 12 dollars a night for seniors, most of them have 14 day limits but you can just move to another site and it is ok. Also there is an opportunity to be a camp host and then you can stay for free, these are very limited. Also if you want to see a lot of the national Parks you can get a yearly pass you pay the first amount then with the pass you can go as many times as you want,( the camping is separate). every state has state and national parks you can get the info on www.nps.gov Thanks again for the great video, Take care stay safe and BE FREE!!

When I first started considering RVing I was excited to see so many KZbin videos from so many different people. The other day I unsubscribed from many because I realized that their RVing style would not be my style for a multitude of reasons. Some were even causing me to rethink ever wanting to be an RVer. So I have saved the best. I am convinced that is the truthful, sane and most genuine information that I have found. Thanks.

A call to the local Chamber of Commerce is an option of local availability, even a call to the local police station in a town you know you will be heading through. Also IF you are a member of a civic organization: The Lions Club, The Elks Club, The Moose Lodge, Mason, Eastern Star, or even a specific church you may be a member of..or not..Churches have large parking lots that are used a few hrs during the week, and normally one day on the week end. Large chain gas stations may have space and services for a smaller fee.

Two perks of aging: 1) Retirement. 2) Senior Pass. If you are over 62, you can purchase a US National Park Service Senior Pass for $20 per year, or a lifetime pass for $80. If you turned 62 before Aug 26, 2017 and purchased that pass before that date, it only cost $10. My husband turned 62 on Aug 11 last year, so he was able to purchase his pass for $10. I turned 62 in Feb ‘18, so missed that dead-line by just a few months 😏, but as long as I am with my husband, we can use his pass. “With the Lifetime Senior Pass, you can stay at forest service campgrounds for 1/2 the regular fee, plus access more than 2,000 recreational sites.” After you spend 8 nights at a FS campground, the Pass has paid for itself, so even at $80, that pass is a very good deal. Sweet!

There is a dump station at the end of the road in Leadville dump and water $5.00 I don’t know why anyone would stealth camp or boon dock with all these beautiful free spots so close. Unless like you said you are having drinks in town. I walked to the golf course yesterday right outside camp and had lunch and a beer yesterday. So glad I found this place! The $20 national forest overflow campground is expensive for not having a hook-up. My personal opinion is that national parks should not have a fee. They are already funded through the Dept. of the Interior. It's double taxation.

Sheila I wish I was to the place you are at. I moved from a 3 bedroom duplex to a 1 bedroom apartment. Couldn't believe how much stuff I have collected since I was about 18 years old and now I'm 62. So I sold a lot of my stuff at the auction. And I'm still downsizing because I still got more containers to go through. But I have to pay my SUV off before I can do anything. I'm only one year out and making my payments with a five-year contract so my goal is to pay it off in two more years then get rid of it and get my RV and hit the road and then I will be totally prepared by then but I wish it was today but it won't be. I've learned so much from these videos between Robin and Carolyn that I've been taking lots of notes and creating my list of what I need to have and how I'm going to have it and I'm excited so in the meantime I get to watch these videos and just wish for now. I can't wait to be a happy camper

I am 62 and widowed. I am living on my widow benefits but at 65 will collect my own social security and have a pension plan. I had a car and just sold it. If I had found this site before now instead of getting my used SUV I would have gotten my Class C instead. But that is okay, because I was trying to decide to buy a house or hit the road. I will get there in a few years. A lot of people who comes to Northern Idaho, goes home sells their house and moves here. Housing is too expensive for me as is everything else. I have my list going and one day be able to check everything off in my RV. We will get there and be on the road

I just found your channel a few days ago. There was so much info I had to take notes. I ordered the lithium battery inverter you use for your friend with sleep apnia. I have wanted something like this for years. I'm new to RVing but am a gunkholer from way-back. That would be a boater who stays on the anchor in unusual places off the marine grid. I'm going to try this baby out tonite. I went to Amazon thru your link to check it out. After searching the competition I bought it through your link for a considerable savings! Needless to say I subscribed and I'm going to binge watch your vids this weekend. You have a wonderful gift in the ability to answer questions in a way that seems to anticipate my way of thought. I live in the North East where the property taxes add up to a quarter of my Social Security. Sold the house and registered my vehicles in Maine. It's like a windfall! I'll be leaving on a 3 month Southern tour in January paid for by my TAX savings. Thank you for doing such thorough and interesting videos. See you on the next one.

At the moment our style of camping is in a hotel or at home. We are following you and several others on KZbin and other sources to learn as much as we can to help us make some good decisions once we decide on the (motorized) RV that we do purchase. We are looking at Class-B vans and we both have some limited mobility issues so all of that comes into play. But we really do like your videos and they have been very informative. I use Walmart when I'm traveling to a distant vista. However, I do my stays at Walmart a bit different. I do check with AllStay to see if it's been reported friendly for RV. Unless it's summer when its really hot, I'll stop about 6 pm or sometimes even 4 pm. I park away where my RV isn't in prime parking. I ALWAYS buy something in Walmart, usually a meal. I"ll sleep for about 3 or 4 hours, and I'm out of there by 10 at the latest. I boondock most of the time because I tow a small 16ft RV. Likewise, I'll stay on BLM land or as you mentioned I will google camping near me. Where I stay depends on if I need services or just looking for dispersed camping that is free or cheaper than the main camp area.

Hi Robin..."Camo Dave" has that sticker "wall" and he showed it again today during a live chat, and I asked about you and he said he didn't get a sticker from you yet. It's your business, of course, but I love your style and channel and if he "reviews" you (or comments on you...mostly good stuff...he comments on a lot of nomads), it gives your YT channel visibility. More people will become aware of it and can watch. You obviously don't have to send him anything but if you are interested, I think it will be beneficial for your channel and his address is underneath his video in Springfield, VA...God bless.

Robin, you are truly making me think that I can do this. All of your videos have answered so many of my questions and fears. You have done so much work for each one and I appreciate that so much. I will be changing my life and buying a van within the next year and many times I have thought(being older and disabled) that there is no way I will be able to do this-then I see one of your videos and I feel that hope again. One thing I would like to ask is with our changing climate and weather how does a person know about the impact that will have on the future. Not just for safety but for the land and what to be aware of as you go into a certain area of the country-I think you had a very up close and personal experience with the weather just recently. What if your computer is out and your phone? And you are not able to get help? Hope this isn't a stupid question!

Consider state parks, as well. I traveled all around Nevada, and my annual pass made the campgrounds free (included). Of course, my taste in recreation may not match the purpose of every park. However, all of the parks had nicely maintained spaces, monitored by rangers. I know that other states have similar parks, although the fee structure may be different. Glad I subscribed, Robin. I learn something from every one of your videos.

Also for truck stop like flying J , Love's, TA etc if you ask they will give you a membership type card which discounts your fuel but also each time you fuel you get points which later can add up to free shower or coffee etc , maybe these topics would be a video for later if you could do a little investigation on them to share with others please I'm not a tuber so as always I love your videos

I can't wait for the day I can pack up and leave. It will be a couple more years. I've learned tons. I only happened to find things out when I entered about where you could stay. I had no idea about the different places to stay. I wish I was in the spot financially to go today, but not there yet.

Thank you Robin. Very helpful. Not sure what my favorite style of camping is. I think it depends on the area that I'm in. If I'm driving through Wally docking is great. I Boon dock and also 1000 trails. I guess it depends on how many days I'm staying in an area. Free is always good.

Robin, I would love it if sometime in the future you would travel east and let us know what type of camping you find available..You're doing a really thorough job out west & specifically in Colorado which is fabulous.. I love it! But I would like to know what is actually available for the center and east part of the US as I hear that there's not as much stealth camping , boondocking,Free camping etc. options especially as you get closer to the East Coast..It would be really helpful if you could cover that area as thoroughly as the area that you're in now.. Also I love your videos! I find them very informative. Thank you for making them and please keep up the great work! Safe Travels

Mattie C Northwest Ohio here. Thanks for asking. There’s hardly anyone with these channels that are around here or in the East. Makes me wonder if everyone sticks to the campgrounds and state parks.

There is tons for free camping all up and down the East from up state NY to PA, OH ,WV ,V ,Tennesse ,Kentucky land between the lakes.Mississippi, Florida buy a hunting pass and stay for months at the same spot 50$ for a year for out of state, so many videos of the East ,too the blue ridge mountains so much if you look ,of course out West has much more land than the East.

A suggestion would be to either visit/goto AAA for brochures/info or rest areas have tons of brochures, Welcome Ctrs, rt across state lines have brochures as well & ask counter person for suggestions. Chamber of Commerce of each state could also help u find info u need. In Ky. there are numerous lakes. Tenn.-Whole Gatlinburg area in the Smokey Mtns. These might help you. Good luck & safe travels !!

Having fibromyalgia, I have realized that I’ll probably spend more time at a place than most nomads... maybe up to a month. RV resorts are not likely to be my choice, though, because I like quiet. Thanks for sharing your insight into the options!
