Best review of this laptop I've seen in terms of an in-depth analysis. Absolutely worth sitting through the whole thing. Thank you for showing the fan noise in the different performance modes. While it's loud as you would expect in the highest setting, the standard and whisper modes are more reasonable than I would have expected. This is an interesting successor to the ROG Flow X13, though sadly you are losing the XG mobile expansion port. As of the time I'm writing this, the version with RTX 4050 graphics is on sale at Best Buy in the US for $1400, which I think is quite reasonable given the screen and standard 32 GB of system memory.

ASUS QC is terrible. That detached wifi cable and defective camera is unacceptable. As it is screen wobble in most G16s. I really feel discouraged from buying ASUS, we should pass on buying their products until they sort their subpar QC and customer service. Great review, you got a new sub.

Hi, thanks for the great review. i have the bigger Proart P16 and it is incredible. The Germany these models are really really expensive. for the camera i read some comment: #3 - On 23H2, the built-in webcam DOES NOT WORK. I thought I had unplugged it by accident when adding the SSD but I looked at the teardown manual and the touch display and webcam share the same wire. The touch was working so it eliminated that as a potential issue. I downloaded the driver from Asus support website but it did not work. I tried getting the HardwareID/part number and tried drivers from other laptops that use the same webcam, it did not work. The 24H2 update made it work. maybe you can try it.

i'm sure you mistook magnesium for plastic. it doesn't feel like metal, but should be magnesium. On another note, it's important to check the ssd size spec before buying the laptop. yet another note, that's just how the wifi antennas are. The display is good but it's not an asus display and can be had on other devices(without the stylus layer it will look even better), just needs calibration. i've had a bunch of Asus stuff and they def gouge a premium for their AMD partnership on the early launch models. Typing on G14 2024, looking to upgrade but this time i will wait for more options from other OEM's

Crazy that a laptop that cost 3.3k CAD in Ontario has come with not just a defective wifi card, but a defective camera aswell, asus needs to work on qc on such an expensive laptop. Unfortunately the inculded pen is also mpp, which is crazy since this is marketed towards creators. Asus literally makes a display that uses Wacom emr tech, I don't know what they are doing with this one. Great review, and although I do have some gripes with this laptop, I will probably pick one up regardless. Also, did your 4060 model come with a backpack? I've seen some unboxings of this laptop, and they seem to come with one. Not really a huge part of why I'm buying it, but it would be nice to have since I do need a new one haha.

I have the 4060 model in the US and it is really nice. I tried a Zenbook S16 with Ryzen AI 365 and had similar issues with drivers for webcam and speakers. Nothing would work even after manual driver install and windows reinstall. I think the other commenter may be correct about 23H2 being an issue. I had 24H2 on my PX13 out of the box, not sure we knew 23H2 was such a cluster at that time a couple weeks back so didn’t think to force the S16 to 24H2. My PX13 has been updating and applying drivers properly, thankfully. Really doesn’t like Linux though, sadly. Asus’ driver stack needs some work. For reference I ordered the 4060 model though the US asus store for $2K and got the backpack and the pen. The backpack is very well made and I’ve made it my daily driver. I can haul 3 laptops and it holds the weight and keeps its profile. Just wish it had more pockets internally and externally. Still a nice value add. For $300 extra? Unless you really wanted the $100 pen without hassle, I would recommend the 4050 model so you can save a few hundred bucks and pick it up at Best Buy. I don’t know if backpack+4060 is worth $200. Maybe I’m wrong.

@@mejohnc Buying this laptop for illustration, and some some 3d rendering. Was looking at the 4050 model initially, but to me, I think the extra graphics power from the 4060 is a plus. But the 4050 model is 24GB or ram, soldered. I would like to have as much as I can if it's soldered ya know. So I'm willing to spend the extra for it. Backpack is a plus, kinda just a joke ask, but Canada might not have it, always different here. I do have issues with the px13, but there is nothing out there that's small, and this powerful, so it's gonna have to be this laptop over anything else atm. Maybe I should just drive to the states to buy a 4060 model, as it's cheaper there vs Canada.

@@Ethan-qc9po oh darn didn’t realize they cut the 4050 model down to 24GB out of the states! The PX13 in the states with 4050 still has 32GB RAM and full 12 core Ryzen AI 370. Might be worth a shot if the drive isn’t crazy, and yeah that extra 2gb of vram+dGPU grunt may be useful down the line. If you get in a pinch you can allocate 4/8/16/24GB of RAM to the Radeon 890m as well, makes me want one with 48/64gb of ram and no dGPU. Best of luck! It is a very unique device and deceptively light.

@@mejohnc Thanks, Buffalo is only a 2 hour drive for where I am, so I'll probably look at doing that. Really weird to hear that in Canada the 4050 model is cut down to 24gb, what an odd decision. Will probably get the 4060 model in the us, since it is actually cheaper there compared to Canada by about 200-300 CAD.
