This is the title sequence from the classic show Creature Double Feature which aired on Saturdays on Channel WLVI-56 in Boston in the 1970's to the early 80's
This was done as a re-recreation by one of my forum members

Hypnotic music...like a 40 year time machine to the past. Lived in East Providence, RI in the late 70s, very early 80s. That music just brings back the whole mood of Saturdays as a kid.

Brings back so many memories. As a kid I didn't care about sports. I couldn't wait for creature double feature on saturdays on channel 56.

I remember this back in the early eighties when I lived in Fall River, MA. I think it played around 1 pm. Also remember watching the Bruins away games on TV38. What a blast from the past!!

Yes. Dana Hersey on the movie loft! TV 38 Movie loft! ;p Cheevers was in goal and who were the announcers>???. They were old Hockey players can't recall but I can picture them cuz I played street hockey and always loved the Bruins! These were cherished memes as I have the coolest room as a kid, really did. Jesus such special memories.

You know, growing up in the Boston area in the 70's was GREAT ... get up at 8 to watch Bugs Bunny cartoons for 2 hours, then Candlepin Bowling with Don Gillis, then Creature Double Feature after that. Then ... after that, watch Wide World of Sports (on Channel 5 / ABC). Sunday mornings were all about Captain Bob, Davey and Goliath, and the Three Stooges. Just fantastic memories ...

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's arrangement of Alberto Ginastera's Toccata. The live recording of it is even better. My favorite recording of it is on their album Welcome Back My Friends. I love this piece of music. I listen to it when I'm pissed...lol

Loved watching this in the 70s at Noon on Saturday's as a kid. Emerson Lake and Palmer played theme to the show and yes WLVI 56 and WSBK 38 are outstanding TV stations.

Whoever created the music for this opening montage is a genius. That has to be the most panic-inducing monster music I can think of. As an 8 year old watching this, I was completely entranced. This should be the music played at the end of the world.

I was born in 1971. The music scared the shit out of me, too. Something about that "raaaawwwwwowwww" at the end gave me the shivers and made me think that demons were coming to get me.

This is where it started for me growing up as little kid in the 80 s in new bedford ma south of boston saturday s 1 to 4 wlvi channel 56 boston this is where i first saw all the classic monster horror movies from studios universal hammer films toho productions daimei productions where gamera is from awesome times growing up as a kid saturday morning tv cartoons on network tv and then channel 56 i even remember the times wwf wrestling at 11 noon time soul train 1 to 4 creature double feature and then i remember star search with ed mcmahon on network tv memories as a kid brings back tears and joy in the 80 s

And Uncle Dale (Dale Dorman) I grew up in Cambridge. Miss those times terribly. Also do you remember a little lion puppet that would always come on between commercials on 56 in the 70s? I guess maybe he was a mascot or something.

I have such an affection for the UHF channels of the 70s and 80s! Quirky, unexpected programming, limited but creative production values, and local commercials! We had a channel 56 in LA, KDOC. That was the channel of late-night dance parties, regional pro wrestling, bizarro hosts like Wally George!

I was psychologically damaged by "the Brain that Wouldn't Die". That Monster pulling off that guys arm and him scraping his stump all over the walls made me hate my closet next to my bed.

I thought it was way faster than the original. I was born in 1970 and watched this every Saturday morning and then Creature Feature was on like a weeknight. Nothing compares to the tv shows from the 70s & 80s. Even when I watch them now and laugh at how ridiculous they are.....I wouldn't want it any other way!

My father was stationed at Pease AFB in Newington, NH between 1978 and 1982, and I always looked forward to Creature Double Feature every Saturday afternoon. I also remember the bumper every afternoon when they had their cartoon block, "Here in Boston, the Kid's Choice is, Channel 56!"

My grandparents lived in Newton and whenever I'd visit in the 70s and 80s, my cousins and I would be glued to 56 and 38 all day. Then we'd get kicked out so our brains wouldn't rot. Didn't work... Anyone remember the "Inch by inch, step by step, slowly we turned, 3 Stooges Marathon"?

MAN ALIVE did I ever love watching Creature Feature (and other similar programs like Thriller Double Feature) back in the day. I wish that we could revive this type of programming. Sure we all have access to these old monster movies, but it's just no the same without a cool host doing bits (a la Mystery Science Theatre 3000 - the absolute best of the best!!).

Dude I know I'm three years late in responding but I just saw all those things you wrote down and the nostalgia hit me hard. Yes I remember them well. Chang Feng on Beacon Street (the Star Market is still there I think) which was right next to Kiki and Art hairstyling. One Potato Two Potato in Harvard square along with Ruggles Pizza. Uncle Bunny's Ice Cream. Ming Toy Chinese restaurant in Davis square. Brigham's in Central square. 70s and 80s were the best of times to be a kid in Cambridge!! Peace.

This would come at 12noon on TV56. I think Wrestling was on either before or after this. In the evening time Dance Fever would come on.

"Creature Double Feature" on Channel 56: It's where I discovered so many of my favourite Godzilla & Toho Studios movies. And Gamera, Daimajin & Daiei Studios movies. The Toho universe including: Godzilla; Minya/Minilla (NO don't call him that hannabarberra travesty); Megalon; Gigan, King Ghidorah, Mecha-Godzilla, Hedorah The Smog Monster, etc! (And some USA giant monster movies...Them! (giant ants); giant Tarantula; "Village of the Giants" (giant teenagers); Amazing Collosal Man & War of the Colossal Beast (kinda a giant school janitor). Channel 56! (Channel 38 played great Hollywood movies in the evenings, on "The Movie Loft". )

the weird thing in this music is that the distorted guitar is added here. On the original airing, you dont hear that.

This is not the original. The number 56 has been updated. I remember a more crude intro from the mid 70's. This intro has 1980 written all over it.
