little tip you can buy a castle 36mm motor fan and put it over the esc , it fits just over , after that secure it on with some tip ties or tape and jou r done !

You got a castle good choice. I use a castle mmp and a 5700kv motor on my rustler and it goes 65mph on 3s. I have had it for 2 yrs and it hasn't let me down.

I have melted a sidewinder 3 esc in my traxxas blast. A tip is to not run battery after battery right after another, just wait a couple of minutes between batteries

You get what you pay for. The Velineon System can completely be submerged in water and be fine. You do that with the SV3 it will burn out. It can handle some water being splashed on it but to much and you endager it of being burnt out.

RPM has a new ESC cage made for this car/esc combo! Picking it up at my LHS Friday. I have the Sidewinder SCT V3 in my Slash that started out as a basket case. It was a former hobby shop track rental truck.

Try braiding the wires from the esc to the motor.....it makes a single and very strong cable.....less of a chance you will rip a cable out.....plus it reduces radio interference, which is needed for non 2.4ghz radios

as for mounting the ESC just take an aluminum ruler cut it to size drill holes in it the screw it to where the old ESC was then just use some double sided tape to stick the new ESC to the ruler

Yeah I've only used a 3s for it. But I have to admit that the motor does run a little hot.

Actually this thing is holding up really well. After running it for a while the motor and ESC doesn't run so hot anymore. I guess it just had to break in. As for nimh, it should show some more speed but it won't shine until you use lipo.

The castle on off switches on their esc's are famous for going out so I highly recommend that you turn it on and if by just plugging and unplugging the battery

they have fixed the heating up issue so it doesnt need one. Also if you get a fan it doesnt make it waterproof and i bet castle creations wanted it to be fully waterproof so they fixed the heat issue

Does anyone know if the jconcepts speed run scapel body can be rigged to fit the 2wd slash? Its designed for the 4x4 due to the required bumper upgrade. I need a good speed body that will keep it on the ground. I'm having to shorten the front shocks to keep it on the asphalt now. Hit 68 mph with mine. Velineon motor on a 3s with 31/76 gearing. Its so fast. I have crashed the hell out of it. I need speed lol

which pinion gear do you use? I have a 5700kv and Castle says not to use bigger than an 18T. I had a 19T but I'm gonna put on a 12T when it comes in the mail.

P Blitz: I had a few stripped screws yesterday when I swapped mine... Drill the head off and when u get it drilled should pop off then take the needle nose n spin it out..

Would the sv3 1410-3800 be reliable and work well in a 2wd slash? Or is the 4600 better? (I've read reviews that say the 3800 is less prone to overheating than the 4600, which makes sense)

The 3800 K/V version is the better option, as the rotor inside is about 50% larger than the 1406 motor, and a lower K/V gives more torque and less heat

Honestly I'd stick with Velineon since the Velineon is MUCH more resistant to water.

when you buy those new gears i would strongly recomend getting a losi brand pinion i really like these they seem stronger than traxxas ones and they dont rust as easily.

Hey please answer this. What motor should i get for the rustler? I want to upgrade from the vxl because im tired of the button sticking and i have tried everything to fix it and i want a cooler esc and motor that will get me the same speeds the vxl system can but i also would like to bash around. I'd suggest the 4600kv. It's closest to the VXL but just a little better. The performance is nearly the same. On top of that, it's well balanced and shouldn't overheat as easily.

It seems to be random. I've heard people say they completely submerged their Sv3 in water and had no problems and others that say it got slightly wet and it burned out. So I couldn't really tell you. All I can say is I've had no problems yet and I haven't gotten it wet yet so I don't know.

gearing ? with a velineon system in this car would a 23t pinion and a 86t spur be ok , cose of my slash vxl motor is running cuite hot . can hold my figners on it for 3 secs . is this an ok temp , i think so couse it is the gearing you would need for a vxl . please answer :-[

Does this system ever get hot on hot days running for a long time and have you run the traxxas 3 cell 11.1 v 5000 mah battery with it and does it get hot with that? Lastly what's the esc mount part # and fan part #? thanks

Yes it does get hot. However I can't complain to much about it since it does handle heat for about 30 minutes before it starts having heating issues. As for the part number, sorry I don't know what it is.

Honestly I'd go with the Velineon. SV3 runs a bit hot and is not as waterproof as the Velineon.

saud al abdullah I would go with something a little bit lower then 5700kv. With that kind of kv on a 4x4 will cause heating issues from what I've heard.

So im planning on getting the sv3 5700kv to put in mu rustler to get higher numbers for my speed runs, my rustler is really heavy and im gonna need to gear it high fir the runs. Does the 5700kv sound like it could go faster or the 4600 could go faster with higher with gearing.

That's a hard thing to compare for me. Honestly the if you're Rustler is heavy I'd go with the 4600kv. It'll have a bit more torque to help you reach faster speeds quicker.

You shoulda mounted the esc forward, the battery wires facing forward and the moor wires backward toward the motor. Either say nice upgrade

i got one of these finally for my rustler, and the power switch was messed up, when i first ran it everytime i hit a jump the motor and stuff would just shut off randomly then id go turn it off and on it would work fine until i hit a few more jumps and i thought it was overheating.. and it started to work after that for a little while, but i left it sit for like a week, when i tried to run it it simply would not turn on for anything... then i cut the power switch off and hot-wired it together and put some electrical tape on it.. pluged it in,, came on and has been working perfectly since that..

I don't plan on sending my slash swimming so I think it will be fine. Looking for something else velineon fried, and had a hobbyking waterproof setup that lasted a whole 20 seconds. Nice build btw!

jason, im a union sheetmetal worker and im making a custom aluminium mount for my rustler. if you can get me a sketch, deminsion and hole layout i would be able to make you a esc plate that would be worthy of going on creature. anodizing green would be on you though. lol.

Donkey Commander the difference is the lower the kv the more the torgue the higher the kv the faster your car wil go basically low kv=wheelies & standing backflips High kv=speed and hot motor and esc and only for drift cars if you want a good esc and motor for a good price try the copperhead 80a esc combo

You should run a 3s lipo they have WAY MORE POWER than 2s lipo for 3s I would recommend a venom 4000mah 20c lipo battery with universal plugs so you don't need to worry about soldering different plugs

I got the Sidewinder 4 for my Slash 2wd, and man I hate the programming aspect of it, its so annoying, and the instructions are not vary clear either. I use to use my old Nimh battery just because I have it, why not, but the hole programing the LVC on or off is such a pain in the rear... So I just use lipo anymore, can't even give these nimh batteries away lol

KV is rather simple when you take out all the mathematics out of it. The lower the KV the higher the torque/acceleration but lower the top speed. Lower KV can handle more Volts from a battery. The higher the KV the lower the torque/acceleration but higher top speed but it can't handle as many Volts from a battery.

It averages about the same as the Velineon. So you can get to go 60mph with the right gearing.

You got it. The SV2 is exactly like the SV3 but not waterproof. I've seen no proof that it performs better. The motors were waterproof to begin with so there's no upgrade there.

It is cheaper than a vxl system, but I am getting longer run times on the 3s Lipo than the vxl, not much difference in speed.Vxl does seem to have more torgue.

Actually, at this point I like it more then the Velineon. I won't know for sure till I get better gearing and run it during the summer and see how it handles heat.
