I remember back in 7th grade science in ‘91 we did a lesson on speculative xenobiology. We saw some of these creatures in a Current Science edition and were tasked with creating our own. We had to describe our species, how it moves, how it feeds, reproduces and other survival strategies.

A planet with this spectrum of light should have loads of creatures with eyes. The evolutionary advantage cant be dismissed. And since eyes have evolved at least 3 times independently on earth, i believe it is not that strange a feature.
