I found this on Spotify, so I have no idea what game people are talking about, but I like the lyrics. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it sounds like the whole idea is that the Hero is "saving" a village from "creatures of deception" but using this threat to basically sleep with whoever he wants, use them however he wants, then abandon the village while the creatures set it on fire. Basically, the hero is the most deceptive creature in the story. I like that absolutely fucked twist on a classic RPG type of adventure.

So, dissecting the lyrics... It's plenty clear that this 'hero' isn't very heroic. Opportunistic ("If it's in my greater interests, you may summon me to fight") and...less than caring of valorous ("But as soon as I save your ass from your doom, we fuck all night"). That's not terribly nice. But what's that part right up front? "Just ahead there lies a village compromised by creatures in disguise...*wearing skin of men so they blend right in,* but I see right through those guys!" And then there's the matter of some lyrics being sung clean, and others in this...gremlin scream. Clearly there's some dissonance, but it seems that all vocals are from the same person. So, a few options. The description of the first lyric... 1. ...is metaphorical, and the 'hero' sees the residents of the village as simple, stupid mockeries of human beings, there to be taken advantage of. 2. ...is part of a delusion, and the 'hero' genuinely sees some of the actually quite human residents as terrible monsters. 3. ...is metaphorical, and the 'hero' has been booked to eliminate a particular sub-group of the village(don't do genocide, kids), though decides to get chaotic and finish the job. 4. ...is literal, and the 'hero' is secretly one of them--hence the gremlin vocals. They play both sides of the conflict like a fiddle and leave ashes in their wake. 4a. Alternately, given the bit about memory-washing, it could be that this person puppeteered the whole incident in one way or another. 5. ...is literal, and the 'hero' starts off honest...until one of them takes THEIR skin! Things clearly go downhill from there. Further interpretation would be appreciated!

I like to assume that the different vocals are technically different manifested personality of the main protagonist in the story: during the first verse, although still questionable, the hero still sets out to rid the 'creatures' but at the second verse, it is shown he had burned and destroyed the village, essentially becoming one of the 'creatures' But what really strikes me more is the chorus's contradiction in moral values, since: During the chorus at 'I am defender of the righteous I am guardian of the true I will not stand for deception and I will not stand for you', you can say that the hero is virtuous, heroic(ironically) But it is then directly followed up by: 'If it's in my greater interest You may summon me to fight But as soon as I save your ass from your doom We fuck all night' indicating that he's selfish both natures are not only contradictory, they essentially are deceptive because the fact that both values show themselves simultaneously in the lyrics, it feels lot more like the hero himself is trying to deceive you to what truly happened at said village, the 'Creatures ov Deception' being no different from his words I can be wrong though, it is just a theory after all
