Cred 300-306: - Riding Helix and other coasters at Liseberg, Sweden (with aerial footage). July 2023

Visiting the famous Liseberg park in Gothenburg, Sweden to ride their legendary rollercoasters. First and last ride was on the excellent ‘Helix’ a Mack Rides custom launch coaster featuring a drop out of the station, 2 boosted sections and 7 inversions. This ride is exhilarating from beginning to end. Built in 2014 It has been fantastically fit into the terrain of the hill with many near misses around all the other pre-existing rides. It actually builds up tempo more and more as the ride progresses, a true work of art!
Next was ‘Luna’, the parks newest coaster built in 2023. This is a very good Vekoma custom family boomerang. By sharp contrast, next was the parks oldest coaster, a true bucket list moment riding the famous ‘Lisebergbanan’ built in 1987 by Schwarzkopf. It is dwarfed now by Helix, but is still a classic masterpiece. Built around the terrain of the hill, there are not many of these rides left, we hope they preserve this for many years to come.
After this was ‘Balder’ an Intamin wooden coaster that was very enjoyable, fast, smooth and filled with airtime. This was followed by ‘Valkyria’ a 154ft Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Coaster with 3 inversions. It was good, but didn’t feel as forceful as ‘Oblivion’ the standard non inverting version of it at Alton Towers in the UK, perhaps this is because it is the newer custom narrow version?
Finally, the last 2 creds were children's rides, ‘Rabalder’ a Zierer Force Two and ‘Stampbanan’ a Preston & Barbieri Mini Mine Vagon. This made our grand total of 7 creds all completed in a fantastic evening visit on 03/07/23.
