I agree with you, high credit limits are given by banks based on card usage, payment behavior, relationship with bank and credit score. Many card holders are so eager to have a high credit limit without understanding the whole process.

Very informative! I hope that more Filipinos will be more open about credit cards and its benefits. Usually, credit cards are being ignored because its a 'credit card' and it comes with its negative attributes. 2x nag increased ang credit limit ko sa Citi this 2022 January at last week lang bago sila lumisan haha, Thanks citi. Rcbc ko nag increased na din sya after 1 year. Pinag iisipan ko naman kasi tawag ng tawag ang RCBC every week na lang they're offiering me another credit card Platinum Mastercard

I've learned a lot from you. Sa dami kong Credit cards nabigla ako kse na approved ako lahat. Though my first CC is from BDO. I started with credit limit of 15k 2012 now a whooping 1M. The rest are ranging from 500k to 800k. Tama ang ginawa ko na bayaran in full lahat ng bill ko sa SOA ko. And whenever I traveled abroad ginagamit ko siya kahit na minimal lang. Kaya cguro maganda ang credit score ko. Thank you Idol kita sa aspetong ito. ❤

Yup same din i havent asked an increase on other cards. Sa Citi lang nun. Silver Visa pa nun with 20K CL. Haha. Eventually naging Gold the Platinum. Nag hang na sa 800K++. Then this year nag increase to 998K. Consolidated na sya with Premier. 🙂

This made me realize my dad is pretty good with his cards. His Unionbank credit limit is 600k and his HSBC had 500k before he had to close it down. My dad let me "use" his Unionbank Gold for online shopping. Bought my Macbook and AC with it, for example. Didn't realize that kind of credit limit is high though. Now I have to lower my expectations haha! I'm applying for a Citibank card and gotta keep this in mind! Thanks for the informative video!

HSBC has a habit of implementing low credit limits when the card is newly issued. The limit goes up on a yearly basis, and the increase depends on how often you use it and how much SOA you incur on a monthly basis. When I first had my HSBC card in 2007, I started with a PhP 15K limit. When I changed to another HSBC credit card in 2013, I was given a 30K limit. Every year, the limit went up and now my limit is more than 200K. No problem with security and lack of promos (that are useful to me. I don't like the existing promos). But I do love the customer service and the ease of use. :)

This is not always true. I’ve been using HSBC always (2 years) and even asked for an increase but they declined. But Citibank gave me 6 digits for my new card and now they are happy giving me high limit since most of my transactions are anywhere from 50-100k. So definitely I cannot use anymore my HSBC since the CC limit is below the price of products I purchase.

I got the rcbc mc classic with 30k CL, then after a year they increased it to 112k without requesting for increase. Then after increasing my classic MC they give me gold visa with 50k CL..😅 but around 8mos they increased my gold visa into 112k. We’ll see if it reach a year they will increase again. BPI and BDO they give me CL increased also even without requesting but not above 100k though.

I currently have a Visa Amore cashback and 150K CL (so I presume basic amore is somehow a "Gold" card) after having the basic Blue for 4 years with 38K CL and that's the single CLI from the original 25K. Medyo kuripot nga si HSBC sa limits. I used the BPI Amore as my reference, but I got HSBC Gold with only 57K, it's a bit higher though than the 36K you got. I have to cancel it na lang kasi they messed up with the shipping and they wanted me to pick up in one of their offices. Not worth it for the meager credit limit. I've been a sub for a while! Keep creating content. :)

I remember my first ever credit card at around 2013. It was an Amex Blue from BDO and I was surprised with the credit limit. I was expecting like around 20k or maybe even less lang as a beginner. I actually had a platinum card with security bank and it was only 10k so I couldn't really use it much in purchasing 0% installment products. Pang grocery lng sya. Kaya nung pa 1 yr na pinacut ko nlng kasi may 2k yata na annual fee yun. I would not want to pay that amount sa kakarampot na credit limit.

BDO Shopmore first CC 30k lang CL ko after 5 years nasa 350k na kahit minsan ko lang gamitin. Then Citi Rewards, Metrobank Gold 6 digits agad initial CL. Yung BPI Blue medyo konti lang tinaas in span of 4 kahit ito ang gamit na gamit ko sa lahat. Unionbank GetGo and Gold 5 digits unang bigay nila but never used them hahaha. Depende talaga sa Bank at ano internal terms & conditions nila. Hehe

I've been wanting to have a Metrobank CC. Kaso parang hirap ma-approve. Gusto ko kasi mga promos nila minsan. However RCBC has been the most generous. Kahit na wala akong account sa kanila they gave 2 credit cards both with separate 7-digit limits. BDO generous pero shared limit between JCB Plat , Mastercard Plat. and Amex. Platinum.

Hi Jax, i agree iba iba talaga sa BPI napako na ako sa limit NEVER NAG INCREASE at sobrang mababa kahit paid in full na ako jan (but may scam sa bpi ko- nag loan daw ako ng 100k) never ko naman ginawa. Insider job? Siguro... Sa other cards na nabanggit mo sobra naman laki ng bigay sa akin at sobrang taas kahit bihira ko ginamit.

Hi po, Mejo upset ako sa ginawa ng bpi. Gold mastercard holder po ako with a limit of 240k, i asked for an increase of cc limit to 500k. Minimum annual income ko po is 1.3M Pero 10k increase lang binigay po sa akin Now, hindi po kasi kumikita si BPI sa akin pag dating sa cc ko. Huge spender po ako, all transactions paid thru my gold cc then binabayaran ko agad ung cc ko right after transaction. This year nag spend po ako ng 400k I find it unfair, parang ayaw na taasan cc limit ko Kaya i’m thinking to switch to bpi visa signature card

For BDO Gold I got a starting limit of 50k, tapos after a couple of months inakyat nila to 270k. RCBC is probably my fave sa auto CLI; 34k unang CL ko sa flex, then auto increase sa 6th month to 159k, then a couple of months again later naging 318k. Citi is the worst; one of my oldest cards but currently stuck at 150k (shared limit for PremierMiles, Grab, and Simplicity). True rin na depende talaga sa tingin nila sa'yo; in my exp, the more na namamax out mo yung card, the lower the chances of getting a good CL increase, at least for Citi

Base po sa experience ko the higher tier cardbor elite card has a higher minimum credit limit matching the category of your gross annual income. Classic card do starts with low credit limit but the credit limit can range up to 500k limit depending on how u use it and the g score u have with them. If you have a higher tier card with low credit limit then theybbase the limit of your card withoutbthe basis of your financial stability and income status so better not to activate it bcoz u will pay a higher annual fee

Just got mine today. Blue card from BPI. Before i said yes to this card, nakailang tawag pa muna sila maybe months to convince me to get one. Ang sabi ko nung una hindi ko pa s'ya kasi 'need'. And now na may paggagamitan na, naging mabilis naman ang process. Maybe a week lang na sa akin na ang card. I think it's better din na you assessed your 'needs' and make sure na you have the capacity and 'audacity'(like what my mom always says 😆) to pay. Lols. Wag puro utang mga bhie, mag bayad din. oh talaga? if ever you can request naman na yan with BDO. Another thing there is also kasi yung deposit mo with them. They use that as basis din kasi.

Maybe sa deposit po kac mejo mababa. I tried to apply na rin po once pero di na approve. That’s why I tried to apply in Eastwest without a deposit kac na inspire po ako sa story nyo kaso walang update for about a month hehe

Citi simplicity ako starts at 59k at 2017. tapos increase nila sa 157k after 4 years then recently 2023 sinabi ko ideliver sa abroad ung replacement card ko kasi OFW.
