Craft Recordings is pleased to announce a vinyl reissue of Creed’s Human Clay, in celebration of the best-selling album’s 20th anniversary. In stores October 11th, the two-LP set is housed in a gatefold jacket and marks the first vinyl availability of the album since a limited edition pressing in 1999. Human Clay, which has sold over 20 million units worldwide, includes hits “Higher,” “What If,” “Are You Ready?” and the GRAMMY Award-winning single, “With Arms Wide Open.”
After the success of their grunge-imbued debut album, My Own Prison, Creed went back into the studio with producer John Kurzweg (Puddle of Mudd, Godsmack) to record material for their follow-up. Though the Tallahassee, FL-based band had already found enormous success on the rock charts with their multiplatinum-selling 1997 debut, 1999’s Human Clay would make them mainstream stars. Driven by the anthemic, first single “Higher,” Human Clay debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200, and Creed quickly became one of the biggest bands in the world. “Higher” spent a whopping 57 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at Number Seven. In July of the following year, the band scored their first Number One hit on the pop charts with the third single, “With Arms Wide Open.” The track-which front man Scott Stapp wrote when he found out that he was going to be a father-earned the band a GRAMMY for Best Rock Song in 2001. To-date, Human Clay has sold well over 11 million copies in the U.S., earning a rare Diamond certification from the RIAA, joining the ranks of the Beatles’Abbey Road, Prince’s Purple Rain and Nirvana’s Nevermind. It remains one of the top-selling albums of all-time in the United States.
Creed’s enormous success is largely due to the prolific writing team of Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti, who founded the band together in 1993. Their winning combination of driving guitar riffs, rousing hooks and introspective lyrics earned them legions of loyal fans around the world. Following the release of their first two albums, the four-piece-which also included bassist Brian Marshal and drummer Scott Phillips-became the first band ever to have seven consecutive Number One singles on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. Creed’s third album,Weathered (2001), also debuted at Number One, and produced several popular singles, including Top Ten hits “My Sacrifice” and “One Last Breath.” Though Creed announced their breakup in 2004, they briefly reunited in 2009 to release Full Circle. Heavier than their previous albums, Full Circle debuted at Number Two on the Billboard 200, proving the incredible staying power of the band.

LYRICS
She wears a coat of color
Loved by some, feared by others
She's immortalized in young men's eyes
Lust she breeds in the eyes of brothers
Violent sons make bitter mothers
So close your eyes, here's your surprise
The Beautiful is empty
Beautiful is free
Beautiful loves no one
Beautiful stripped me
Stripped me
Stripped me
She Stripped me
In your mind she's your companion
Vile instincts often candid
Your regret, is all that's left
The Beautiful is empty
Beautiful is free
Beautiful loves no one
Beautiful stripped me
Stripped me
Stripped me
She stripped me
She told me where I'm going
And it's far away from home
I think I'll go there on my own
I think I'll go there on my own
She told me where I'm going
And it's far away from home
I think I'll go there on my own
I think I'll go there on my own
The Beautiful is empty
Beautiful is free
Beautiful loves no one
Beautiful stripped me
Stripped me
Stripped me
She Stripped me
She Stripped me
Stripped me

My brother and I went to three consecutive Creed concerts during the Weathered Tour. Twice I was at the front of the pit. Most amazing surreal time of my life and Tremonti threw me his pic. Scott's lyrics saved my life and they are more meaningful than ever.

Creed was probably the first rock band that I got into back growing up. Now I'm 34... Been listening to all types of metal for years. Huge Alter Bridge and Tremonti fan... seen them live etc. It's been a easy 10 years since I've gone down the Human Clay rabbit hole. This song slams! Forgot how heavy some of this album is.

Creed is a household name. Period. What we'll get this touring season is a relentless band of skillful individuals that will bring the 90's feel with their persistent touch of elegance and musicianship. Even their last album was pure gold. If you have followed them closely, you know what I'm talking about.

I know it sounds weird to say this, but Creed was the best concert I've ever been to! I saw them live with my mom (RIP) back during the 2012 Human Clay tour, I'm telling you, these guys had that crowd more hyped than any other bands I've seen at that venue. Creed sounded exactly like the album, Scott's vocals were freaking perfect, everyone was killing it. I will cherish that memory forever because my mom was with me, she passed away in January of 2018 and she was my best friend. Her name was Kim and she was 56yo when she passed away, she was a beautiful soul and she made me who I am. RIP Mom, I love you and I miss you very much. 🙏❤

Have to admit, their drummer has to be up there with the elite few drummers in R&R, metal in particular. His sound and directness when hittin' his kit is such a perfect compliment to this exceptional band. All of Creeds parts fit this great group perfectly. Need I say any more.

Reunion time! Creed got the underserved criticism due to Scott Stapp's antics but hes come "full circle" (pun intended) and I think all original members are at a really healthy pace right now. Great band - lots of memories. I'm sorry but I just couldnt get into Alterbridge.

Yeah, ya know, I get it, Scott Stapp may have been a bit of a douche back in the day, but Creed was a great band. The lyrics to most of their songs are simple, yet poetic and thoughtful, and they have a great message behind them. I also don’t think Scott was a bad singer at all. In fact, I think he had a great voice that was raspy, but just clear enough to understand every word he sang. I think if he would’ve let Tremonti really shine more and wouldn’t have been as much of a control freak, Creed wouldn’t get the bad publicity it got, and who knows, maybe they’d still be together making great music.
