Scott Stapp is very talented as a poet i.m.o., he sings from the inside out, that's why the music is so good. It's good because he sings for a reason, to share truth.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. I believe there are many possible interpretations, but to me it speaks of the struggle between the spirit man and the flesh, which every human being experiences throughout their lifetime. The faceless man is the conscience, knowing right from wrong even if you've never been told, and Jesus the face on the water showing us which path to take.

I know it sounds weird to say this, but Creed was the best concert I've ever been to! I saw them live with my mom (RIP) back during the 2012 Human Clay tour, I'm telling you, these guys had that crowd more hyped than any other bands I've seen at that venue. Creed sounded exactly like the album, Scott's vocals were freaking perfect, everyone was killing it. I will cherish that memory forever because my mom was with me, she passed away in January of 2018 and she was my best friend. Her name was Kim and she was 56yo when she passed away, she was a beautiful soul and she made me who I am. RIP Mom, I love you and I miss you very much. 🙏❤

Its amazing how this song has changed for me when I accepted Christ. I never understood who the faceless man was before. I use to think it was God. But wouldn't you want to stand with God, not against Him? I see standing against the faceless man as turning away from man and facing God. As we all were created in His image, the face of man will cease to exist when those that choose Christ are saved. The faces of men will be revealed as the faces of God, as we are all His children. So man has no face of his own.

LYRICS: I spent a day by the river It was quiet and the wind stood still I spent some time with nature To remind me of all that's real It's funny how silence speaks sometimes when you're alone And remember that you feel I said it's funny how silence speaks sometimes when you're alone And remember that you feel Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Now I saw a face on the water It looked humble but willing to fight I saw the will of a warrior His yoke is easy and his burden is light He looked me right in the eyes, direct and concise, to remind me To always do what's right He looked me right in the eyes, direct and concise, to remind me To always do what's right Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Again I stand Lord, God, I stand against the faceless man 'Cause if the face inside can't see the light, I know I'll have to walk alone And if I walk alone to the other side, I know I might not make it home Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Next time I see this face I'll say I choose to live for always So, won't you come inside And never go away? Next time I see this face I'll say I choose to live for always So, won't you come inside And never go away? Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man Again I stand Lord, I stand against the faceless man
