I managed to score a 120ml 2014 bottle, I don’t know about you but about 45minutes in I get a slight leather note similar to OG Fahrenheit I think it may have something to do with the violet? I’m loving it. Great review bro.
@RamseytheRam10 ай бұрын
Probably the violet leaf 🍃 Giving you an association smell...it's very interesting how we all perceive fragrances different...but there is something around that 45 min mark that smells ever so slightly dirty... the hard-core Creed heads would say that's the real Ambergris 🤷🏻♂️ But for me, in a fragrance that smells so clean that shadow of dirt is genius 🧠

The peppermint accord you're referring to is new to the note pyramid. Creed updated their note breakdowns on the official website several months ago. Prior to that, all the formulas appeared to be different. I wonder if the F batches brought in modified formulas. Great review as always!

Followup to my last comment. I have an F batch and recently got a chance to acquire a 2016 120ml pre-Blackrock bottle of GIT at a decent price and had to jump on it. Tested it today compared to the newer bottle and expected a bit of a difference AND... They are effectively the same. Same opening. Same middle and drydown. Same longevity and strength. There are ever so slight differences that could be tricks of the mind, or that the older atomizer pushes a bit more juice, or maybe the newer one is fresher. I thought the opening of the 2016 might be a tad stronger (atomizer pushing more juice), after about a half hour the older one was maybe a bit more earthy and green, but barely. The sparkly aspect went a bit longer on the newer batch. But all of this is smelling skin and looking for minutia. In the air, the same. The newer batches, at least F000 is every bit as good. At least I got to double my Green Irish Tweed supply.

GIT was my first “niche” perfume back in 2002… it blew my mind at that time and sent me on a creed sniffing spree. I then ended up purchasing Erolfa (which was much darker and briny in its opening and had more depth to it), himalaya, smw and acier aluminium - which didn’t smell like anything from 2000s or popular at that time, but I ended up loving it the most - I would just hose myself down with it until I was completely enveloped in its metallic banana note - that will forever be etched in my brain as an NYC night out - great memories… and today, I’m wearing and loving my GIT again, in celebration of the official holiday!

@@RamseytheRamunfortunately the AA lost it bite around 2017 when they reformulated its base (and later discontinued it) and, I suspect, removed the oakmoss… I bought a half of a flacon of a 17x batch and the top is glorious, but it has absolutely no bite in the base, which is what makes it great and a fruity chypre. My 2015 is definitely still top notch though. I think it is about the same time aventus lost its mojo too. Interestingly bdp was still good at least into 2018 as it has no oakmoss in the base

Hey brother, unrelated question that I think you will be able to answer. I have a sample of oud Maximus 2020 from Bortnikoff, but I don’t see that on their website for sale, I only see “oud Maximus”. Are they the same scent?
@RamseytheRam10 ай бұрын
Not necessarily... he put the year on the scent up until 2020... so for example there was a Oud Maximus 2018 and 2019 and 2020 and from my understanding the reason was the the formula or ingredients changed every year... after 2020 they stopped... so if you buy a new bottle will it be the same? Probably not but it should be close

Great vid as always Rams. GIT is a classic, even the new formulations are not bad compared to the rest of the current Creed line up. If you haven't, try Rain from Royal Crown, it's a very heavy dense take on the DNA and I probably prefer it over GIT in colder weather.

I got a little original decant from git with just a few drops left in it. I absolutely loved it and i ordered a 10ml decant of the newest formula. I was pretty disappointed. The natural freshness and sharpness of the original decant was replaced by a really generic designer type of freshness. It seems that i have to watch out for a older version of the scent.

i think because i grew up smelling cool water everywhere, i just cant go nuts about GIT. i have it, i wear it, and it gets compliments most times i wear it. Ive (like 90%+ of people) probably never smelled a real vintage pre-oakmoss ban bottle, so i imagine this must have been quite a step up from cool water back when there were more naturals and possibly even real ambergris in this. my juice has to be pretty close to the age of yours but im sure a little newer, and i just kinda shrug at it nowadays. in the end though, nobody can deny that in 1985 absolutely nothing smelled like this, he didnt just tweak an existing format that itself came from many tweaks over time...he made something TRULY new. P.S. my mother is from Belfast and ive been lucky to visit Ireland numerous times...can confirm on the weather 😆

@RamseytheRam8 ай бұрын
😂😂😂 Don't do that I assure you there is a difference, although it is true that you could almost consider Cool Water a flanker of GIT, and Cool Water came out a few years later, I once heard someone refer to Cool Water as a "finished" GIT. I own and love Green Irish Tweed, but what specifically about the Irish countyside does the smell of it evoke? I’ve been to Ireland - I’ve family there - and the Irish countryside isn’t exactly uniquely GIT smelling (at least, not to my nose). Seems to me that alot of people who say it smells like the Irish countryside, perpetuate the claim without necessarily having smelt the Irish countryside up close. The same goes for Italian-style fragrances, which we’re told smell exactly like Italy by people who, in some cases, have never visited Italy. Unless you’ve been to these places, keep a lid on it, people 😂😂
