It's a lot like Rocky V where Rocky tried to warn Tommy not to sign and go with George Washington Duke. It's the scene where Tommy and Rocky are talking outside of Paulies house, and Tommy told Rocky he is going to sign with Duke because he's tired of Rocky (as his manager/trainer) taking too long to get him a title shot. Rocky tells Tommy that Duke is only using him to make money and to turn them against each other and Duke doesnt care about him as it will only hurt Tommy in the end if he goes with Duke. Tommy leaves telling Rocky he can either train him or not train him but either way he's signing with Duke. Creed here tells Rocky either way he's going to fight and Rocky like with Tommy lets him go at it on his own. Both learned a hard lesson from it, but Creed had the heart and understanding to realize why Rocky was right and rebound from it where as Tommy...well we know what happened to Tommy.

Rocky not only fought Drago to avenge Apollo, but also to seek forgiveness for having been indirectly responsible for his friend's death by not fighting that night and throwing in the towel. Adonis has to understand that Rocky is harboring alot of guilt and regret for letting that fight go on with Apollo and Ivan. Remember, Apollo didn't want Rocky to throw in that towel, and because Rocky let Apollo have his way he died. Now Rocky is faced with the same exact situation 30+ years later with Adonis and Viktor. It's not an easy choice to make whether Rocky would've stood with Adonis or not... ultimately Rocky made the right choice and let Adonis be his own man, stand on his own, and make the decision....

This is probably MBJ's best role to date. Him and Sly played off each other so well.

Actually, he has one thing to lose. Only one, his father's love and respect for him. Thats what makes him dangerous.

Something tells me Donny has a bit of Apollo's stubbornness and pride in him. In this scene, Rocky was basically telling Donny "you can't win" without actually saying it.

The Rocky movies do callbacks the way they should be done: Subtle, that you might not pick up on the first time through. Contrast that with Predators or Force Awakens which had giant neon signs almost every scene which read: "THIS IS SUPPOSED TO REMIND YOU OF THE FIRST MOVIE"

The most interesting fact is that Rocky is the ONLY one who can understand Donnie at this moment.Bc Rocky with his team walked there and fixed that problem.Same thing Donnie felt, that s why he wanted Rock to be at his corner

But you don’t think I can beat him!! Does words hurt specially to a fighter when talking to his mentor, Adonis wanted his blessing and needed it more than anything else.
