About the wax, it does help! My fins had a maximum speed because of their higher volume and aggressive foils, but then I tried waxing their surface just to see if it'd replace the need to sand them - that max speed went away and they even gained more agility. One of the older surfers in Santa Cruz saw this and told me Pancho Sullivan would wax his fins. He saw Pancho doing this one day, asked him "What the f**k are you doing?" Pancho said it helped make more spray. Great surfing. Your fins definitely work!
