Creed Tabarome Episode # 132

A Creed that gets less talk but is very elegant and classy.

*YAY! Finally someone reviewing it :) I've mentioned it on FB a couple of times already that Tabarome is the only CREED that I really love. I'm not very into CREED since I think that the juices are not good enough to justify the price and, to me, it's one of the most overpriced and overhyped perfume houses, BUT this one I LOVE. GREAT review :)*

Thank you Ewa, and how lovely to see you after such a long time XO. Where have you been? I agree with your views on Creed price and value, and I am in the same boat as you. I haven't got a single bottle of Creed partly because of the reasons you mention and partly because of their chronic problems with batch variations.

Yes. True. The batch variations are annoying too. I'm still very much into finding inexpensive hidden gems because I'm not rich and don't want to throw the money I earn out of the window. Of course, I'm always ready to save and spend my money on an expensive, very special masterpiece with huge sillage and longevity that is worth the price but... sad but true... I didn't find one yet among the newer ones. No Xerjoff, no Roja, no Creed... All the new stuff is overpriced in 99% of the cases since the restrictions are so extreme. Most of the ingredients that made perfumes smell strong and awesome back then (I'm spoiled by my vintage perfumes... I know...) are forbidden now and what is allowed are chemicals produced in one huge factory and used in everything, the cheapies and the expensive ones. I've posted on FB today that the geranium in 'Charlie Blue' (8 Euros) ist the same quality as the geranium in 'Geranium Pour Monsieur' (135 Euros). Just think about that. Beautiful and thought provoking point my dear lady :), you are on the money about lack of performance and use of synthetics. Very succinctly put :). I have also been on the hunt for vintages and have acquired more than 20 vintages recently. The jewel in the crown is my Guerlain Heritage and Samsara. I featured in my my most opulent video. I think people can now clearly see through the IFRA workings but the real question is weather IFRA will change? I think the root cause is IFRA and the fashion houses are just in cahoots with the manufacturer of these synthetics to come up with cheap fragrances and charge 70% mark up to the poor customers.

I only got to test this one twice on paper, but now I'm really regretting not getting a sample. Seriously though, I was quite suprised at how much I liked it from the beginning. Still can't stand SMW, but this one and Himilaya are extremely underated from the house.

I agree Doni, this one and Himalaya do not get the talk. I will review Himalaya soon and theres no issue you can always get a decant in near future of Tabarome. I was quite surprised at the menthol like smell of the scent in its late dry down. Very unexpected mate :).

I'm dying to get your opinion on Royal Mayfair! I find it to be the most unique Creed and my personal favorite, although I did struggle with it initially. You and I have very similar tastes so I'm eager for your opinion

Brad, I agree, Royal Mayfair, is very unique as its one of this fragrances ( very few) that uses the note Eucalyptus. I will make that happen soon my friend :)

Tabarome with its pronounced tobacco and ginger reminds me of The One edp minus the amber. I love the latter so Tabarome felt a bit incomplete to my nose.

I see. I found the tobacco in Tabarome to be green and the one's Tobacco is synthetic and dry. I frankly don't see any relationship between the two.

Kash G. Your kidding? The one smells nice i suppose but their is absolutley no way you can pick out any notes in it it’s just a bit of a mush. The tobacco in taberome is green and vegetal and the ginger is bright & zings all underpinned by the ambergris. This for me is one of the most underated fragrances ever while the one has to be one of the most overrated.

@@SuperGilly71 I stand by it though, of course, we are all making relative impressions rather than objective claims. I agree that the tobacco in Tabarome veers to more of a leafy, vegetal kind of accord. The ginger in both Tabarome and The One is quite pronounced, particularly in the opening. I prefer the ginger/tobacco in The One, however, because the amber acts as a kind of soothing filter for those sharp accords. In Tabarome, they're quite distinct, but carry more of a stern almost astringent quality to them. It's still a nice frag, just not my proverbial cup of tea. For distinct tobacco I lean toward Tobacco Oud and perhaps Tobacco Nuit.

Hi John, depends on which type of date, if its a first date then I will wear something safe like GIT or VIW. If its second or subsequent date then my top 3 would be Aventus, Royal Oud, Spice & Wood.
