@Timliu925 жыл бұрын
I think not many will disagree that Mark Tremonti is an excellent guitarist and songwriter, and even as a singer he is quite good - he sings on key and has a nice low grit to his voice that he uses to his advantage. His material with Creed is admittedly a bit too calculated and generic for mainstream audiences, but he still came out with several nice and musical-sounding riffs here and there (Torn, Ode, Pity For A Dime, Say I, What If, Bullets). Alter Bridge and his solo career really unleashed his true self as an artist and musician.
@brandonhaines19204 жыл бұрын
@@Timliu92 let's not forget that Mark wrote the song "My Own Prison." Stapp took so much credit for writing the song when in fact that it was Mark. Everything Creed back in the 2000s revolved around Stapp and it wasn't until Mark and Flip left is when people started to understand the significance that Mark's song writing ability was much greater. Case in point, Stand Here With Me solo. How many solos were heard in a Creed album? 1 maybe 2??? I think it was at that point where Mark realized that he was being held back.

I recently listened to this album again and noticed that in Signs, Scott does echo another word like he did with sex. There is a pairs thing happening where he says this is not about 1 thing and then this is not about some other thing where he echoes what he just sung. Probably doesn't make the song any better for you. On further listening I think My Sacrifice is actually about coming back to something he is addicted to, he also makes the whole song sound bitter sweet because he knows this thing he is coming back to isn't good for him. Lots of people personify drugs. (everyone is entitled to their own interpretation. Obviously.)
@Johnzilla21799 жыл бұрын
+hikkeen I actually think he was speaking of the opposite. Given his heavy Christian influence, it sounds as if he was attempting to free himself from drugs by sacrificing them and returning to the light, as it were. That smile on his face in the music video and the generally uplifting tone of the song overall keeps me from interpreting it in a negative or otherwise bittersweet light. Fascinating interpretation, however.

8:23 That was even better than the version on the album😆 EDIT: Is the crowd screaming it too?!🤣

Do Simple Plan next, I'm still laughing about you crying in a cold bath listening to Nickleback's Where Do I Hide? a month later, something about your existential despair over bad music warms the gleeful cockles of my heart. Your horrified face sells the pain.

The funniest part about the live clip of "Signs" isn't even how they seem to dub in the "SEX!" shout, but the sensuous wiggle Scott Stapp does while singing that line, like a cut-rate Christian rock Mick Jagger.

Creed has some pretty decent songs, even with a lot of duds thrown in there.

Say what you will about this album as a whole, Bullets is still a kickass track in my opinion.

Listening to Creed in 2015? Oh you do suffer for us Mr RR. Hope you keep this series up :)
@Rawk4Life9 жыл бұрын
If you're uncertain what "Bullets" is about, it was Scott Stapp's response to Fred Durst trash talking Creed behind their backs. Stapp was basically saying "If you're going to take shots at me and my band, do it to my face."

I honestly didn't mind this band all that much. Sure, they're bit of a joke, but some of their songs are pretty decent to listen to, both ironically and unironically.

Then Myles Kennedy replaced Scott Stapp, and changed the name to Alter Bridge and the rest is History. SEX!

I understand why people hate Creed, but I really think this album is not bad at all. Every song is catchy, instrumentally is strong and the voice of Stapp it fits perfectly with the style and genre. People hate certain bands or songs or albums just because is "cool" to hate them.
