Probably a rights issue. Also, Fogerty in several interviews said he hated their performance and that could be a reason as well.

hitch-hiking back from caddying at the Lancaster Country Club in late July 1969, a hippie van stopped to pick me up and told me they were all going to Woodstock to attend the gathering, told 'em my parents would kill me if I went, SHOULDA went !!!

Unfortunately, the promoter got almost all of the money. The band signed a contract from hell, then got great! John Fogerty quit and sued. The other guys got peanuts. Karl
