Hey;• the kids are alright! Well some of them, but don't try telling them we only had good stuff going. There was a lot more bad than now. We moved to Europe when I was 10 and I was totaly used to the radio stations around LA. So I kept trying, but every time I touched that radio it gave me nightmares. Nowadays it's even possible to turn that radio on for almost an hour!

Funny I felt compelled to comment, and when I scrolled down to do so, the first one on the list kinda rolls in to what I was thinking. Those Winter's were musical geniuses..... Should that word be geniii? I dont know. Super talent. Sometimes in these live shows, which as far as I know is all that is available, they experimented on stage, sometimes it went too afar afield, in my opinion, but what they did that worked was wide ranging and inventive. True musicians those guys.

That's not the only time... If you know about Edgar's live double album "Roadwork" (1972), at some point, Edgar steps to the microphone and says "...People keep asking me... WHERE'S YOUR BROTHER??" You can hear the crowd go berserk as Johnny makes his first public appearance in a while (maybe after trying to kick a bad habit), and goes on to sing & play a wonderful version of "Rock & Roll, Hoochie Coo", with its writer & former bandmate Rick Derringer playing 2nd guitar, 2 years after the original studio version on the album "Johnny Winter And", and a year before Rick would do his own version, the hit single released from his first solo album, "The All American Boy" (1973)... Johnny even gets equal billing on the back cover of "Roadwork" to Rick, for the one song! If you love this song, AND love Johnny Winter, this is a must-have, and my favorite version of the 3.

Bought all Johnny's albums when I was buying albums. KZbin has afforded us to see these concert videos we'd probably never would have seen. Love this internet. Finally saw Johnny and Edgar at Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival in Ft. Fisher, NC They played through a nor'easter that evening after took sides off of the VIP tent and rigged a wind/rain breaker on the open-sided covered stage nd the show went on. Edgar started with FRANKENSTEIN. Did his set then Johnny scooted out and sat down for his set..then they both did several songs. Troopers in that miserable weather. They were fairly dry...we were soaked. Wish I could post the pics I shot. Front of stage. PSISB&JF was a long running local coastal chamber of commerce event every 2nd weekend in October. Hurricanes since 2016 have put a cancellation damper..move to spring but just not the same. Atlantic Ocean to the east, Cape Fear River to the west. Your sitting on the dry land.

The first time I saw Johnny was in the early 70s. Drove from Dallas to Ft. Worth to see him but when we got there, we didn't have enough money for the tickets, so I went and panhandled the rest to get in. Saw him the last time a few months before he died.

I taped him (never taped anyone before) at a seminar AND concert in a CT club on August 9, 1978. He was late, drink in his hand, took a big gulp, and said "Mmmmm.... breakfast!", eliciting a big laugh from the audience. He was generally in very good spirits at this 'Blues Guitar Seminar", but things turned serious for one particular question from an audience member. In some of the local music press, it got some special attention when I asked him about Jimi Hendrix, and he spoke at length about Jimi, and became obviously overcome with emotion before the subject finally changed. I think he ended the it by speaking about Jimi's death, with his head lowered, in a soft voice (almost like he was thinking out loud), and said something like "I still can't believe it", more than once. You could hear the pain in his voice for the loss of someone he not only revered, but felt like brothers with.... I still have the tape(s) & the news articles. I'll never forget it. Johnny Winter, from 10 feet away, talking to this 23 year old - me. Loved you, Johnny. You were one of the guys keeping the blues alive in the '70s (& beyond), even when you rocked out.

Oh my, I can't get enough of it. Since I lost my husband 44 years or so and my grandchildren and my son and daughter and my brothers and sisters. This song warmed my heart so much, I know all the words. My deceased husband and I would rock all night long and dance and hug and kiss, lots of beautiful wonderful memories thank you Johnny. Thank you Johnny you're awesome and I will listen to this song until I die Bella or Cinderella. God bless our world. 😇❤️🤪

I remember seeing this on TV. The crowd wasn't into the blues he was doing and wanted to party. Johnny uttered the immortal words I remember to this day, "You want some rock'n'roll? You want some f*cking rock'n'roll?" (Crowd goes apeshit). "You gotta lotta noise, but you aint got no taste". Priceless!

What I always loved and admired about Johnny was his playing with sincere feeling. I mean REAL feeling; every time, every song, every note. He simply loved what he did and was a gift to everyone who ever saw him play. THANK YOU JOHNNY for giving such love to us all!

@@LeftCoast_TomP The truth in what I said could be seen decades after his epically long shows with his band; his brother's band; Rory Gallagher's band and Rick Derringer's band. Johnny was still loving what he did so much, he was stretching the strings on every note & song...he never settled on going through the motions to give a good show and get out. He played with that raw intensity of youth always--and gave his all.

Those concerts were designed to be broadcasted simultaneously both TV and UHF radio. So good sound balance was mandatory. Most famous were the Rockpalast Nacht (Night) that started at 10 p.m. The broadcast was nationwide and each of them were little Woodstock festivals. My parents granted little sis and me unlimited watching no matter how long it lasted. Real big concerts for free!

Every time I saw you...after the show...I said to myself..."Wow...how can a guitar player be that good?"...you were unbelievable...absolutely unbelievable."
