A friend told me his story of the lead singer, John Fogerty. My friend and his college friends were hanging out on a warm night in the front yard. A man in a plaid flannel came up to them and started chatting. It was John Fogerty. He stayed for a few minutes and excused himself and said goodbye. My friend was struck by John's humbleness and ease. The college kids were blown away that John Fogerty just stopped by and talked with them. Maybe it is that humbleness that comes through in the music. I like to think so.

I sure love you guys, your hearts, emotions, and reviews. I am 78 years old, was in Vietnam in '67-'68 so enjoyed all these bands from the '60's and '70's. When I returned from Vietnam and settled back into society which was a bit turbulent in the late '60's, I used to stop at a donut shop, have coffee and listen to CCR and the Beatles on the juke box. I would enjoy these songs as you do and reflect on where I had been, the simpler life of the '50's and early '60's, then the difficulty of the Vietnam era and post war times. Hearing CCR especially caused me to yearn for those simpler times when life seemed so happy and good. Watching you guys take me back to those feelings. Thank you so much. Love you.

John Fogerty wrote "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" to express his frustration with the fact that CCR was breaking up as a band, back around 1971 or so. It used to gall me as a 12 year old kid that so many of my favourite bands would only last a few years and then break up! I never wanted to break up with my friends in grade school or high school, so the fact these adults could not get along made me angry! They were taking away my favourite music! What was wrong with them? Now that I'm 66 I wonder how some bands stayed together as long as they did! 🤔🙄😄💖🎸🎸🎸😎

It is a feel good song for sure, as so many of theirs are. There is something that seems so authentic about this fantastic band. In a 2020 interview with American Songwriter, Fogerty stated that the line "Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day?" was inspired by the band's feelings of unease and depression at the height of their fame and commercial success.

The thing about CCR back when they were playing is that they were one of many bands that we were into then. Basically, we were drinking from a fire hydrant when it came to music during that time, there was so much happening, and I suspect that some great bands might have been taken more for granted than they deserved.

You obviously enjoy your CCR tracks, we can tell by your smiling faces and the way you move along to them. I think part of the appeal is that their songs are so uncomplicated and relatively easy to sing along to. They can turn their hand to any kind of song style from rocking tracks like Travelin' Band to more laid back stuff like Long As I Can See The Light one of my favourites. Loving you guys reaction style and whatever you play I'll be sticking with you.
