@@musawi7074 my speculation. Swapped barrel could potentially get a different zero than a different caliber, or gets small deviation. If you want to start in at 1,000 yards and less, .308 can do it. It won't be as good as many other calibers. Although I guess you'd end up being very good at reading wind and holding over for elevation adjustments. The AXMC would be better for something to grow with your range. Or you could buy a chassis and just build off of it.

Love it! Doesn't get much more fun than that. All of you for future reference i know there wasn't much wind but shoot with a faster cadence to keep your calls the same. In the beginning with the guy in the green hat someone called a mil or two high.. so he took his time and changed it on the turret and slowly closed the bolt.. took aim and squeezed... low impact. The mirage showed the wind pushed the first one and cut on the next. His second shot went right below. If he never changed his dope he would have hit it. Call out. Hold slight change and send another. Its constantly changing too much to dial exact numbers

Clarification gentlemen: Regarding external ballistics, all things being equal and appropriate, ballistic coefficient and corresponding muzzle velocity make the difference at long distance. The higher the BC the greater the retained velocity and energy. Therefore, assuming muzzle velocities are stiff, a .284 caliber bullet at 183 grains will trump the .300 if, let’s say, a 190 grain bullet were used in the .300 instead of the more appropriate 230 grain pill. Again, assuming appropriate twist rates and etc are utilized. Summary: kinetic energy is not a measure of long distance advantage. Neither is “stopping power”. Only BC is worth consideration assuming, again, proper twist rate, adequate MV, SD’s less than 12 FPS and etc.

CGN Family Example: Have you watched any videos where a guy compares a 6.5 Creedmore against a .300 Win Mag and declares the 6.5 Creedmore the winner at long distance? The reason you see such videos is because the guy was running a high BC bullet in the 6.5 and a low BC bullet in the 300. BC is sectional density divided by form factor. It’s basically the measure of how efficiently a bullet penetrates the air. So, if you were to run a high BC bullet in the .284 and a low BC bullet in the 300 Norma, the high BC .284 would perform better at long range by retaining more velocity and energy.

That is a nice place to shoot. I can only shoot to 750 yds in my back yard. My son has a 300 Win Mag in an MDT chassis and the thing from the factory was too flexible to shoot from a bipod. We wound up cutting some 1/8" steel and bending it to fit in the barrel channel and bolting it in. Shouldn't have to do that with a $500+ chassis, but it works now.

Hi, I’m a KZbin subscriber and would greatly appreciate your help with this. I am a shooter/reloader with a little over 3 years experience, so still a newbie/amateur. I have really enjoyed getting into long range shooting and have been able to shoot out to 880 yards locally and getting 0.5-0.75” groups at 100 yard with 6.5 Creedmoor Savage reloaded ammo. I’m looking to upgrade my long range rifle with a budget of up to $2,200. Current setup... RIFLE: Savage 10T in 6.5 Creedmoor (5R barrel, no break) with a Bradley cheek rest. SCOPE: SWFA SS Fixed 10x MRAD/MRAD REST/BIPOD: shooting bags SHOOTING STYLE: Benchrest (want something can shoot PRS/benchrest competition in the future) Contenders: $750-2,000 Tikka T3 CTR/Varmint (upgrade stock to KRG Bravo) Bergara Premier Series: Ridgeback/LRP Elite/HMR Pro $2,000-2,200 Badrock South Fork (Defiance Action) MPA BA PMR Competition Havak Bravo by Seekins Precision John Hancock by PVA (ARC Nucleus Action) Daniel Defense DELTA 5 Also open to purchasing a barreled action, ex. PVA sells a ARC Nucleus barreled action or a Howa 1500 BA and putting in a stock/chassis. Not a deal breaker, but I would like to have the ability to change out barrels or adjust headspace myself to improve brass life/accuracy (length of jump to lands & bullet seating). Buying at the $2k/under seems ideal if I want to also have the option later compete in Production class PRS Competitions. I routinely check GunBroker for good deals and used rifles. I’m not in a rush to buy something by any deadline but I was hoping to get some advice and tips for what would be the best platform. I know Remington 700 footprint would give me the most options for aftermarket/extras. Open to any suggestions/advice and won’t take offense. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE!

Joe Di I recently was able to shoot the Bergara ridgeback, Lrp, and hmr pro out to 1000 yards. Also the Bergara bmp is a great rifle that some prefer and I’ve shot that out to 1000 yards. Bergara makes great rifles and accurate barrels. The hmr has a very comparable chassis to the krg bravo so it would be easier to just stick with the hmr in my opinion. But you would probably be happy with any of those Bergara Rifles. It all depends on if you want a technical aluminum chassis or “regular” stock/chassis. Hope this helps

I used to shoot 800 yards with peep sights and a sling, no bipod. If you're looking to improve your skills I'd try that. You'll learn pretty quick
