tip: split your wood down into smaller strip type pieces, built a teepee. Then cook the wrapped fish in the coals. You should have a great bed of coals in no time. Scoop some on top of the fish. Or......do what you want, because this is America. Keep the vids coming!

So one of the ways that I like to help keep moisture in a tinfoil meal is to wrap the fish in a cabbage leaf. It helps keep the fish moist and the bonus is that you get cooked cabbage as well !

You asked for suggestions on cooking trout. Split those logs you brought down into smaller pieces of firewood. Start your fire in advance so you will be cooking on coals instead of "next to logs" as in the video (you don't need flames as coals are very hot). Lay your tin foil dinner directly on top of a bed of coals, then scoop some more coals on top of the tin foil so you kind of bury it in hot coals. When you check your dinner for "done-ness" unwrap the tinfoil at one end instead of poking through it with a fork (so you can wrap it back up tightly if the fish needs more cooking). Turn your dinner over once if you want ... but if it's buried in coals well you shouldn't have to. Anyway, that's what I do. The best to you - and thanks for the videos.

I am not much of a skin eater so this is my go to way for trout while camping and while at home. I always ensure to crimp the edges and roll them tight so the fish is pressure steamed to perfection.

Get a box of rice pilaf, cut your fish in chunks start the rice and put the chunks of fish in with the rice . Let it slow simmer for twenty or so minutes, rice should be ready and same with this, you can also do it with Spanish rice, excellent every time!

Great video as usual! Any tips for identifying public/private land? My girlfriend and I always get discouraged following creeks off of highways in Utah became we’re afraid we will run into private property
@jayk.22764 жыл бұрын
Use the state recreation site here: dwrapps.utah.gov/ram/start2 Then filter it for land ownership and it will give you borders of public and private lands in the state of Utah.
@bassntroutfishing4 жыл бұрын
Most of the time the land owner will have it clearly fenced off or posted no trespassing. I could be wrong but i think if it’s not posted they can’t charge you with trespassing.
@jayk.22764 жыл бұрын
@@bassntroutfishing that's true, but I don't like to chance it out in the rural parts since sometimes they're a bit more bias as to the "type of people" on their land. I might be over thinking it, but better safe than sorry in our countrys political climate 😬🤦🏾♂️

@@jayk.2276 as a person of color who also shares a huge passion for fishing, I fear of the same. I have no issue fishing public lakes such as Panguitch lake but accidentally crossing private property following rivers and creeks, especially because I usually fish with a firearm on me, can be a little scary
@jayk.22764 жыл бұрын
@@NoFoOd4U78 yep. I just use the states website and follow the property lines there. 99% of the time they're pretty accurate. Aside from that tool, it's about as reliable and safe as it gets concerning property lines. Practically a free onX! Personally, I trust the states app more than onX.

hey! what parts of utah do you fish? and how do you find these amazing creeks?
@bassntroutfishing4 жыл бұрын
Mostly in the southern half of the state, and I usually just drive around and search around more well known lakes for tributarys.

Nice cutthroats! I once caught a Snake River Cutthroat when I was on vacation out West a few years ago. It was about 16-18". So I understand that keeping the smaller trout allows the bigger ones to grow, but I'm confused as to why you kept the bigger one
