Once you got on the water it was a nice relaxing video something I needed today this 70-year-old stayed up till 2:00 in the morning watching movies that's something I shouldn't do much rather watch fishing thanks John

I love Lake Cumberland. The smallmouth fishing is great there now. When I was a kid it seemed like it was more of a largemouth bass kind of deal. Now I catch way more smallies.

One more comment here. That Drum that you released was a real cool segment of this video. I know you pretty much are a strict catch and release angler and I appreciate that very much. There used to be a time when I was younger that I would bring fish home to eat. As I grew older, I appreciated being able to release the fish for others to have the pleasure of catching. Seeing how low the water was and probably due to the fact that those drum's were in that shallow section looking for something easy to eat, made him an easy target. As you enjoyed catching, then showing off this Drum, you had the joy of being able to release a fish that has been successful in staying uncaught by predators, to have grown to a large size. As he majestically swam off after you helped him, it was way cool to know that the fish was enjoyed by someone that loves nature. John, this is one reason why I think your videos do so well and your following has grown to almost 100K members. It's the appreciate for God's handy work, HIS creation and the closeness that one can get to it that is the thrill. This was an outstanding video....G

That's some of the best fishing when the lake is starting to go down a lot of the fish start heading into the creeks where it's a little bit shallower. Just don't know what you'll catch in one of them holes in them creeks. Great video.

If you ever are willing to go a little farther north in KY, try Elkhorn Creek. There’s a put-in at Stillwater Campgrounds in Frankfort, KY and the smallmouth up there are insane. Lots of good memories with my dad slaying smallmouth there.

If or when you get the chance, try fishing the Duck river just west of Nashville. Me and a friend waded almost all of middle Tennesse when we were teenagers and the Duck as well as the Harpeth river were great for Smallmouth, Spotted and Rock Bass. Don't know if you've ever used or heard of a float tube ( waders that have a floatation tube at the top to keep you afloat in deeper water) but they are also a great way to fish/ navigate streams of variable depth and current.

Look like an awesome time man. You and your buddy had some fun together. In the video at 2:40 walking through the water over top of Rock barefooted 👣 I know that was brutal. I have to do the same thing too & It's brutal for me too. I have big very very extremely wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE wide with very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. I cannot find a shoes , sock , or boot that's wide enough to fit my foot so i have to kayak Barefooted 👣 because of that. I think if my toes was at a 45 degree angle like everybody else's toes and not straight across Footwear would be a lot easier to find and put on my feet. But I try not to let it stop me from fishing. That one fish was long & skinny man. But good video man thank you for sharing.

#Creek fishing adventures# Have you ever caught any of those little striped fish out of those cold clear water creeks? They are very small and white with stripes like a white bass. Their mouth kinda looks like a suckers mouth. My dad told me about these fish several years ago and i went to the place were he caught them and i finally caught one. I have googled them and searched high and low but have found nothing, could he have discovered a new species? We caught them in Tennessee in Piney creek in Rhea county, TN. If anyone has caught any of these would love to hear it and would like to know the name of the species.
