Hugh Jackman said this Wolverine takes place PRE-Logan, meaning it's the same one from the Fox-Verse leading up to the events of Logan, where he is now much older that film, as well as Charles now being frail and sick. Cause remember, in Logan, the X-Men were already dead, showing nothing but their tombstones, if I remember correctly. So they never showed any mutants dying. Deadpool & Wolverine might be the movie where they actually show those deaths happening, likely during the opening scene, hence cameos from some of the original X-Men actors. So it's directly connected to Logan but several years (perhaps even almost a decade) PRIOR to the events of Logan taking place.
