This movie is very well done, I don't think I can even explain it fully without ruining it. But I felt like I went through a rollercoaster of emotions and stress, and it coincides perfectly with what is being portrayed in the film. The first-person view adds to the effect. It reminds me that intuition is a powerful tool.

I would say, I don't think this ruins it as in the trailer it's fairly clear, I realised rewatching this for the 3rd time yesterday, Firstly, it genuinely shook me to my core yet again, I even apparently fell asleep after and in the morning my gf said I was literally screaming in my sleep saying "peach fuzz is coming for me" and "you should be scared too, he's coming for you" I couldn't actually believe that as that has never happened to me before, I felt awful for her as that sounds so fcking creepy 😅 she said it did scare her a lot 🤦‍♂️😅 And secondly, I realised after watching it, although the entire film is terrifying and unnerving, the moment I really felt uncomfortably scared, matched when Aaron (the guy filming) came to understand the situation as actually dangerous and terrifying. Amazing film, I don't scare too easily despite the fact it sounds as if I do. This film uniquely did that to me. I also just found out watching a making of video, that, rather sweetly, the two guys are like best friends in real life. And conversely, rather disturbingly, almost all of it was improvised. The actor playing Aaron said it was basically a loose structure, and in essence, was just him hitting record and letting the actor playing Josef just do his thing. Also interestingly, the whole wolf mask thing (peachfuzz) actually came from them filming what they planned to be a dark comedy, and only upon showing it to numerous people, who only described it as 'creepy' did it become the horror film 'creep'.

absolutely loved this movie. the first half was so amusing, absolutly loved Marks' acting -- especially as he's so easy on the eyes :') I persoanlly wouldn't class this as a horror movie, more a thriller. especially as the ending made me cry, which horror movies have never done to me ahaha. It's not the best horror movie in the world, the jumpscares didn't get me (except for the last one) but maybe that's as I've watched so many horror movies & games so I kind of know where they would most likely come about--but I still love it and would definitely watch it again if I wanted to feel a little unnerved.

I had this discussion with my gf who felt the same way you did. She really loved it, it just didn't scare her quite as much as it did me. She said it was because she said it was a bit predictable. I argued that as you said, the jump scares are, The plot is not. I said that of course the jump scares were predictable as (just my opinion i could be wrong), they looked set up that way. The camera work and Josef running off a lot, was clearly setting up for Josef to pop out. For me, that made me more scared for a longer period of time than a jump scare would. As the constant anticipation of Josef reappearing and guessing the ways he would, left me anxious right up to the jump scare. You are both correct with regards to the genre in a sense. As I just discovered, they both initially recorded what was supposed to be a dark comedy called "peachfuzz" and only upon showing this short film to numerous people, who only described it as creepy, did they accept it as the horror film creep. So there is absolutely essences of numerous genres, I think that is perhaps why to me it is so incredibly unique, and I think they really tweaked the found footage genre to something truly original

imma go watch this.. will be back to update on how it goes 😙 update: oh my god. first off, i recommend watching this movie. I don’t even know how to describe it without giving too much away but the name is extremely fitting. starts off creepy in a funny way with “Josef” making aaron film weird stuff. as the movie goes on stuff gets worse. The twist is expected but unexpected in the way that it was delivered. This horror movie won’t have you screaming or anything but it’ll leave you feeling unsettled. don’t overlook Peachfuzz.. about to watch creep 2 and see if it gets better or worse! update on update:this second part was a really interesting addition to the plot of Creep. the movies and filming style taken on both make everything very unique. the plot was an a nice change from part 1. the dynamic between sara and “aaron” as he now goes by, is almost sickly loving as sara immerses herself into his life

The comment bandwagoning is a bit excessive. I mean you guys are acting like this the best horror movie of the century. It’s not. You’ll spend most of the movie laughing rather than being scared of anything. It’s anticlimactic. The people commenting must be nerds or film amateurs because that’s exactly what this film was…amateur at best. 5 out of 10 at best. Mark Duplass was the cherry on top but there’s nothing “classic” about this film. DVD-Blu-ray worthy honestly.

I think you're right but there is a specific reason you're right, in my opinion. It's because like me, you watched this through 2023 eyes instead of 2014 when it came out. We've seen all this before and the lost footage genre has been beaten to death. I think I might have had a different opinion in 2014 and you might have too. That's not to say that it makes the movie better, but it tempers the disappointment a bit.

Textbook example of behavior of a psychopath. The micro aggressions, the value to devalue of his subject/victim , him looking talking at his subject like an object, constant headgames . And don't forget women do this too...they'll talk to you like a puppy like " you're so cute ..so amazing, you are a special one " ...yada yada . But you feel like they are talking to themselves about possessing you. I have that creep radar big time. I've been in a group of people where one person is off...I can't hide my suspicion. They know I know . I've confronted them right off the bat and been told I'm to sensitive and paranoid - I leave and latter I was told " yeah, he/she was a weirdo". To me they stick out like a sore thumb . They prey on very lonely people , or people that are weak or isolated.

i truly do believe that horror after 2010 is catering more towards a younger crowd and because of that they do not make gory, scary or proper horror anymore. this movie was not good. horror can be very versatile and have many sun-categories, this movie didn’t need supernatural forces, slashing, jump scares or demons in order to be successful, however it was anticlimactic, boring and definitely more on the thriller/comedy side. i would say that it does create perhaps an unsettling and creepy vibe (so the title of the movie is correct) but it was nothing amazing, brilliant or different like some of the comments are suggesting. i feel like the horror genre hasn’t been the same for a while, everything is just recycled, reboots, remasters or sequels.
