"Husky" is the perfect word to describe her natural voice. "Hoarse" describes a very similar sounding of voice , but generally not natural, usually brought on by being sick, like having a cold, or from excessive amounts of yelling.

i think the word you were looking for was her Growls or Rasps. to do a deep dive into this masterclass vocal performance may i suggest watching The Charismatic Voice reaction where she breaks down all the different techniques Haley uses, and fan girling all at the same time!!

Scott (the piano player) is the one who created Post Modern Jukebox. There are so many amazing artists who have performed with PMJ. Haley is in several of them. I’ve seen them live many times and it is such an entertaining show. A lot of the audience dress in the period clothing, it’s so fun!

She did a great country cover on AI which was LeAnne Rhimes' Blue. She can sing anything I bet, even like Floor did by Singing the Phonebook. In case no one mentioned, these videos by PMJ are set up as one camera, one take. Hundreds on Scott's YTube channel

Ahaha haha ... Haley in beast mode, quite impressive, isn't she? Now where do I start: You mentioned Scott Bradlee, the guy on piano, definitely a musical genius, PMJ is his baby and collective of amazing (jazz) musicians. Scott does all the arrangements, the other musicians are from a pool, depending on the occasion. PMJ feature different vocalists, and Scott also really knows whom to feature for a specific song... But in the case of Creep it was an older arrangement he'd recorded with other artists. Haley was touring Europe with PMJ, but they hadn't recorded a studio session with her, singing Creep and she didn't have Creep in that program, but she had heard the arrangement with a previous recording and one day she approached Scott and said she wanted to sing that song, and then she slayed it. This recording was done in Zürich during a free day on tour. It was already late in the day, they had recorded several other songs (All About That Bass and more) and at the end of the session Scott asked Haley if she would record Creep. Haley was hesitant, she felt tired from touring and recording the whole day, but Scott convinced her they could do it in one take, and they did. When she had ended her last note the recording engineer came out of his booth and said "We have a banger"... the rest is history, Haley's recordings are PMJ's most often viewed ones (I've watched Creep a hundred times, on PMJ's channnel and dozens of reactions, this and AJ singing "I Put A Spell On You" for me are the most fun songs to watch reactions to them...) - OK - it was a bit risky to have you start with "Lovesick", but it is a very beautiful song, but other than this which really kicks in and gives you some adrenaline, lovesick is more melatonine... I love to listen to it late in the evening to get in a satisfied, tranquil and sleepy mood... I took the risk because imo it is a bit unfair and kind of a curse that so much attention is focusing on Creep, Haley has so much more to offer, you don't wanna get hyped all the time, but she certainly can and does on more than one occasion (with PMJ 'Habits', 'Black Hole Sun', 'Seven Nation Army' (killer!), Oops, I Did It Again' (great fun), Lovefool (lovely), the already mentioned "All About That Bass", or, more recently "Don't Speak' (must watch), or without PMJ in other collaborations (I love Casey Abrams...) like "I Can't Help Fallong In Love" (sweetest version ever)... what I love about Haley, next to her vocal qualities, timbre, incredible technique and breath control is her stylistic versatility, she can do it all from Rock, Blues, Jazz, ballads, sometimes sassy, sometimes cute, but always at the highest level of intention and artistic awareness... - She grew up in a family of musicians, her parents have a professional band, her dad being an awesome guitar player, there are videos of her with her parents' band, or just her Dad on guitar (live at legendary Chess Records Chicago studio)... so much to discover... And I was sure her voice would be convincing enough with Lovesick you would want to hear more and inevitably get to Creep... - now you're free to move on as you like, the Haliens will flock in when they awake and give you more suggestions, I've mentioned some which will necessarily come... Ah ja, there's a nice little video by Scott about the story of Creep, with the history of the arrangement and footagefrom earlier performances and how it came all about and how he saw a comet, "Haley's comet" that night on his way back to the hotel... :) The Story Behind 'Creep' - Stories from "Outside The Jukebox" (for your private pleasure, 2.22 min.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6TOfIZ-ZrCZarc Enjoy, good night! Einen schönen dritten Advent morgen 💗 It is said that when Haley was a baby her dad would scat at her, and she, not able to speak yet, would scat back at him, it was their way of doing conversation... It really comes natural to her and she does it quite often, so if you like scatting you will be richly awarded with Haley...

I'd love to see Scott doing an arrangement for Angelina, or Diana Ankudinova... ah ja, und Debbii Dawson: My favorite by her right now (I keep exploring...) is her own arrangement and production of "My Funny Valentine" released one year ago on her channel - quite different from Angelina's gorgeous recording, but for me on par in terms of vocal beauty, and a really original, thrilling arrangement of the song (while Angelina's is very 'classy')...but it's audio only (which maybe even not bad for a first listen, so nothing distracts from her voice and the music...) Correction, Haley’s first cover recording with PMJ was “Habits” which Haley performed on her first PMJ tour show in Berlin. She also performed a bit of All About That Bass, replacing outgoing Cristina Gatti, joining Morgan James & Ariana Savalas. A week later, Haley would re-record All About That Bass with that line up for PMJ in Switzerland as well as re-record “Creep”

also what is even more impressive is that this masterpiece was actually completed in one take with a tired voice and all but one of the postmodern jukebox covers are done live with no auto-tune, etc more info in links below: here is the history of "creep" one take from scott bradlee (the creator and pianist from postmodern jukebox): kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6TOfIZ-ZrCZarc. here is additional history on haley and "creep" from #1 fan haleyTusk (even has a color pic of her from that day): kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4ekhIeXftSHj9k

jesse... great reaction. haley reinhart is one of most unique vocalist of our time (certainly the most underrated). the band postmodern jukebox (or pmj) takes current popular songs and completely re-imagines them vintage (1920s to 1960s) in the music itself and style of the performances that actually take you back in time. they have a variety of good vocals but haley reinhart especially with postmodern jukebox is incredible and recommend "seven nations army", "don't speak" and "all about the bass" to get started... she also does a stunning award winning platinum solo cover of "can't help falling in love'" here: (kzbin.info/www/bejne/laaxoXiYqZyqldE ) that is frequently described as what love sounds like. i have enjoyed a variety of music my entire life but no one touches the soul quite like haley reinhart

Perhaps the word "smokey" would be a good word for what you were looking to say. "Husky" isn't bad. But I think it misses the mark a little. "Hazy" doesn't really work.
