Every so often someone has a performance that just transcends. This is Haley's most brilliant performance. She knocked this one out of the park. This is PMJ's very best as well. Neither will likely ever surpass this. And that's okay. They need to file away and treasure this special moment of perfection.

Haley's an incredible singer, and she definitely should have won American Idol. Her voice can be angelic and sweet or gritty and tough by turns, often within moments of one another. Throw in her incredible range, intonation, modulation, beautiful phrasing and on top of all that, her confidence and sultriness, and she's truly special.

I absolutely love this cover by Haley, and I appreciate it more with every listen. It does evoke a time when singers carefully chose their phrasing and worked to tell a story with their performance. The very cool thing about PMJ is that they bring in different singers and different musicians depending on what the song calls for. May I suggest for your next PMJ reaction, Morgan James covering Aerosmith's Dream On. You won't be disappointed. BTW, Haley and Morgan are friends and have recorded a few duets together that are worth a listen, even if only for your own pleasure.

Kathy here - just found your channel. What a great song to have you react to. Haley was on American Idol, didn't win, was ashamed, as she is so talented. And I think it was because she didn't seem to be wholesome enough for the show, just like Adam Lambert. You should check out some of her performances from A. I. as she was incredible. And the look on your face when she came in with the grit and growl! LOL Priceless! And that first long note she held, and then the scatting, the laugh you made, made me laugh! And mouth open! LOL I'm 68 years old, and while I was born in 1955, I remember the Platters, all the others you named, and more. That is the music I grew up on and my parents always had music going on in the house. From what I understand Haleys father was/is a Chicago blues studio musician and that's her background. She seems able to put a blues or jazz spin on just about everything she does I personally love her tone and clarity without all the "tricks" and runs so many try to rely on today she can hold a clean clear note without all the false vibrato that so many today use and without flippin autotune! True talent!

You have the Chicago Blues musician part right, but I wouldn't categorize Harry as a "Studio" musician. Haley gets her amazing live performance abilities from both her Dad and Mom who've played together for over 40 years in their family band, Midnight. Harry plays in several bands in the surrounding area and is well respected among working musicians there I've talked to when I've visited there to see Haley perform

great reaction larry. haley reinhart is one the greatest, most unique vocalist of our time. postmodern jukebox (or pmj) takes current popular songs and completely re-imagines them vintage (1920s to 1960s) in the music itself and style of the performances that actually take you back in time. they have a variety of good vocals but haley especially with postmodern jukebox is incredible. all the other haley/pmj ones are great also: "all about the bass", "habits", "black hole sun", "mad world", "seven nations army", "oops i did it again", "lovefool" and the very recent "don't speak". i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. even when she uses very little of her unique vocal acrobatics, her pure raw soft voice is amazing like in the intro of "creep". you see this even more in her solo platinum cover of "can't help falling in love" for the extra gum commercial which is truly stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like here: (kzbin.info/www/bejne/laaxoXiYqZyqldE )

Haley IS Jessica Rabbit! While touring with PMJ in 2015, she recorded 7 or 8 videos. PMJ's specialty is recasting modern songs in a style that was popular during the mid 20th century. Your follow-up reaction should be their reinvention ("cover" doesn't describe what Scott Bradlee does with a song!) of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXOZeYxup55racU ). This one's done in the style of a New Orleans dirge. ---------- PMJ uses many vocalists and draws musicians (mostly acoustic) from a pool of excellent performers...so every video has a different feel to it. The only thing you can count on is that the end result will be fascinating! PMJ's restylings are SO different from the originals that it's a good idea to go back and listen to the original before discovering what PMJ does to it!

LOVED anticipating your genuine reactions as many of the little surprises in this song were coming up. This is, in my opinion, one of the two greatest covers of all time. The other being Johnny Cash covering NiN's Hurt. I've watched both hundreds of time and never fail to tear up as both are just such emotional bombs. I realize Scott Bradlee arranged this, but I suspect Haley had a lot of input as well. She is clearly a talented arranger herself as evidenced by several of the songs she did on AI. I believe that was the first season where I really started to watch AI, and it was filled with interesting performances. What she did with Elton John's Benny and the Jets on that show was masterful as well, and worth looking for if you haven't watched it. You have a new subscriber. vocalocity...it's like being hit by a speeding vocal punch. Haley just full of awesomeness. Displaying 13 of the 9 human vocal techniques. Always have to watch what Haley does with her eyes, hands, body motions; she can truly tale a story just with her performance. " Black Hole Sun", "Love Fool", "Don't Speak", "Seven Nation Army", "Oops I Did it Again" all with Haley and PMJ. PMJ uses several fantastic singers with other songs but Haley and one Morgan James are my favs. (Morgan and PMJ "Dream On") Great reaction here man!

Oh sir, wait until you hear the PMJ Haley Reinhart cover of Seven Nation Army… 👀 I never appreciated this White Stripes song until this version - hope you’ll consider reacting to it. Haley and this band and arrangement are too good! Subbing in anticipation 😊

also what is even more impressive is that this masterpiece was actually completed in one take with a tired voice and all but one of the postmodern jukebox covers are done live with no auto-tune, etc more info in links below: here is the history of "creep" one take from scott bradlee (the creator and pianist from postmodern jukebox): kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6TOfIZ-ZrCZarc. here is additional history on haley and "creep" from #1 fan haleyTusk (even has a color pic of her from that day): kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4ekhIeXftSHj9k

Haley was on the 10th season of American Idol. It was also the season where everyone realized the results for every season were fixed ahead of time. She was clearly the best performer but was constantly sabotaged by the judges to knock her out of the competition.

This is, indeed, their schtick. Scott Bradlee is a fine-but-not-mind-blowing pianist, but he's an absolute genius at two things: arranging, and finding the right people to perform his arrangements. There are some good suggestions here already, but let me add: _Royals_ (Lourde), Featuring Puddles, the Sad Clown with the Golden Voice.

I had a similar reaction, Larry. Haley Reinhart has the kind of definitive musical vision for a song that one sees in Angelina Jordan or Frank Sinatra. The arrangement is killer as well. Radiohead did well in writing this song, and their version is great, but this is my definitive version. Great reaction LH!

Scott Bradlee is the founder and arranger, etc., for PMJ. He uses a stable of musicians and singers who do these covers of modern songs done in a 30, 40s, 50s genre. Recommend PMJ featuring Morgan James doing "Dream On", it also is killer. Haley and Morgan do a lot with PMJ and they do several together. Enjoy...all I would ask is be careful where you make your stops..you miss some of the vocal fun that way...good luck.

"Creep" was recorded a week after Haley landed in Berlin for her first show w/ PMJ. This was Haley's very first professional tour after American Idol. They were on the road for five shows until their day off in Switzerland... It really is quite amazing how people change the story from PMJ having to 'beg' Haley to sing (this was her first ever tour & they had to beg her?) , to her recording their biggest hit on her first ever professional tour right off the plane.... I made a quick synopsis video of the week from landing in Berlin of her first show to a week later in Switzerland, if it helps stopping the spread of 'made up' stories about this performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4ekhIeXftSHj9k
