This is so wonderful and cute. Making one for my son's 7th birthday. I'm trying to think of ways to stiffen up the sides to make the piece more squared. My OCD demands I try lol. Cardboard would break down too quickly and is not washable. Would plastic canvas work and stiff be safe for cuddling?

@JaydaInStitches4 жыл бұрын
Hi Monica, stiff stuffing helps it keep it's shape, but you could certainly try using plastic canvas. Just be sure to round the corners and make sure there are no little sharp bits along the sides. Otherwise it will poke through the stitches!

I am currently trying out this project. I am doing 8 stitches wide and 8 rows high for the head... Mine is pretty small. I don't know if your creeper had a small head. Mine is like the size of a half dollar.. Maybe the size of a match book. Maybe the parts appear larger because of your camera. Just let me know if I am on the right track or messing up on the size please. :)
@JaydaInStitches9 жыл бұрын
Hi Micki, the important thing is that all your pieces wind up in proportion to each other. Your hook size, yarn size and personal stitch tension will all effect the size of your work. If you feel its too small because you simply want a larger Creeper, than upsize your hook first, but you'll have to remake your pieces. However!! When you sew all the head pieces together, it ends up being deceptively bigger than the individual squares! A half dollat-sized head piece sounds pretty right on to me 😊

Hi Jayda. Do you think I could hot glue the pieces together instead of sewing ? Love your tutorials. Thanks Cheryl x
@JaydaInStitches10 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl, I don't think I would recommend hot gluing the pieces together if this is going to be a toy, or if you might wash it down the road. However, if you're going to just put it on a shelf and it won't be played with, then it might stay together. However, having never hot glued any crocheted fabric together, I can't say honestly what the outcome might be like! You might want to try a trial run on some other crocheted scraps first, and also to see what the seams are going to look like. I hope that helped :)

I saw Steve in some of the videos that you make could you make a turtorial on it. Oh and I have a question do you have to pay on Esty for the pattern or can you get it for free?
@JaydaInStitches9 жыл бұрын
Zoe P Hi Zoe, I currently have the Steve pattern available in my Etsy shop and yes, Etsy is a market place and most things for sale there cost money (but not necessarily much!). Etsy is pretty a great place to spend some time, so if you haven't checked it out, I invite you to!

Hi I am in the middle of the video and it is amazing but I have a favorite mod called the ice cream sandwich creeper mod I was wondering if you could make one of those because I love the original you made
@JaydaInStitches10 жыл бұрын
Nathaniel Gibson Hi Nathaniel! Oooh! The ice cream sandwich mod, I especially love the look of the mint chocolate chip, but that'd be a devil to try and do....I probably won't be making a tutorial on this any time soon, but here are a few tips: Draw out each piece (as you know it from the tutorial) and colour it in as you would need it for the Mod. I'd recommend you go with straight vanilla or strawberry filling as opposed to the Neapolitan or the mint chocolate chip, it's just easier. Then, change colours for the middle rows of those pieces affected (because not all of them would be) and when sewing the pieces together, make sure to keep the ice cream effect going by making sure the stripes all join up. I hope this helps! Mmmmm, edible creepers...um, is that ew or yum? LOL

Nathaniel Gibson Sure! OK, did you draw the individual pieces? That's the best place to start, especially when you're making anything that requires a colour change, and for things that are built in pieces like the creeper. You're making your own colour grid to follow and it helps you figure out the mechanics of anything you might need to adjust in order for it to be put together properly. Changing colours in this project is pretty easy, you just have to crochet so many rows in the colour you want, fasten it off and then join the new colour at the start of the next row with a single crochet and do as many rows in THAT colour as you need...and so on...I should really do a basic colour change tutorial....hmm

2 part question- do we go into the starting stitch or not? I'm always confused.. not exactly a beginner, not exactly advanced.. 2nd part: Can you use a H hook instead of an g size? my sqaures come out a bit "Wonky" with the g hook
@JaydaInStitches8 жыл бұрын
+Stephi Soul Hi Stephi! The first chain from the hook (or the one that's still sort of attached to the hook, but not ON the hook) you always skip when single crocheting. Always work into the second chain from the hook. Secondly, if you find your fabric is warping or your stitches are too tight, than using a bigger hook is a great idea. Just make sure you make ALL your pieces using the bigger hook to ensure that they all fit together properly :)

Okay that's what i thought! i'm easily confused... never really made any stuffed toys or amigarumi

My husband Jeremie and I both play Minecraft and he has a love hate relationship with the creeper. He hates them and they really love to sneak up on him and blow him up. He hears the hissing sound and it freaks him out
