I think it’s because of the sense of suspense and the lack of answers. We *don’t* quite know what was in that room. We *don’t* know what the friend saw, and we *don’t* know what will happen to whoever else steps foot in that house next. It’s a perfect level of just enough information to keep us inferring, with not enough to give it all away. Horror at its best.

I actually feel so sad for the ghost. Like i guess she was vengeful and angry and was willing to hurt them, but imagine being the dead spirit of a scared little girl and constantly playing your music box to calm yourself only to have your family members treat you like a demon and then leave you all alone in your abandoned house. especially if her spirit was trapped in the room and couldnt leave, so the music box was the only thing that she could use to get her family's attention. maybe she was just angry and despairing because she couldnt get out????? though i guess she did prevent them from getting the key for some reason....

The thing is, she could get out. She had the key.
@jimmiesussler86404 жыл бұрын
Maybe it wasn’t her.....
@gabrielam.76813 жыл бұрын
The story itself explained it. The music is a symbol of her ghost, in the end that single key is all that plays when the box broke, unrecognisable and uneasy. His sister is dead and the only part of her spirit left is unrecognisable, it's just her hate and nothing else, so this is as much his sister as that single note is it's whole song, which it isn't. It's not his sister, it's the worst part of her played in a loop.
@gabrielam.76813 жыл бұрын
Imagine you split a person's state of mind into pieces. Say one of those pieces is 'hatred', plenty of people feel that but it's with other things, now isolate that feeling, that's what's in their house, it's not any particular person, it's just 'his sister's hate'. It can't dissipate back into his sister because that's the only piece of her that exists there in the first place, her hate.
@gabrielam.76813 жыл бұрын
Ultimately like the note, playing over and over again doesn't make it it's original song. Her hate playing over and over again doesn't make it her.

This is generally well written but all I can think about is what a massive overreaction she had. Who tf bursts into tears over not being able to get in your room? Even if she thought there was no key the parents could've gotten the door open the first time, and the second time she KNOWS there's a key and her brother will open it. I was a very sensitive child and I'd never have lost my crap and run into traffic over being locked out of my room. Also the parents clearly didn't teach her basic road safety, or she's a moron. Not to mention them then mistreating their son. The whole thing is whack.
