The creatures were banging just like the counting in tag. That’s why Leah was counting. She realized. I’m guessing that at 50 is when the “game” would’ve begun and the creatures would attack.

Honestly, the ending about the mother 'losing her head' unnerves me more than anything, as it ties back to the beginning of the story wherein the narrator spoke muchly about beheadings. I don't know if that's me reading too much into it, but I feel like there's supposed to be something there.

I listened to this with my brother, and it scared the hell out of him as this story is basically exactly describing where we live. The driveway, the garage/shed, the forest with no boundaries, the property in the middle to a suburban place near the ocean, and the automatic lights on the garage/shed too that keep turning on. We also love to play 'hide-and-seek', as well as 'tag' at night, which I think will change now.

OK... CRAZY STORY TIME.... When I was a teenager my parents and I moved into a home for like a two year lease. The real estate agent (by law) had to tell my parents about any deaths that occurred on the property. To make a VERY VERY LONG story really short... the previous owners were MURDERED in the house, in the living room. They were then taken to the master bath and then were literally chopped up. In the two years that we lived in that house, nothing “paranormal” happened UNTIL the very last day when we were mostly moved out. The couch was still in the living room. (It was a sleeper couch where you could pull a bed out from it which also left ZERO ROOM for anything to be under the couch... even my hand - this is REALLY important to the story) So my BFF and I were in the house alone, sitting on the couch talking about the move (she lived right down the street from me) and we suddenly heard someone/thing banging on one of the windows closest to where we were sitting. At first, I thought someone was messing with us. Then we heard a bang on the front door (totally on the opposite side of the living room). We were both starting to get freaked out but hadn’t even gotten a chance to say anything to one another. THEN, there was a LOUD, HARD bang on one window that looked out on the HUGE backyard. THEN, another on a window facing the front yard, THEN another on the other window facing the backyard, THEN another on the front door... THEN ONE ON THE ROOF RIGHT ABOVE US and finally a HUGE BOOM under the couch we were sitting on!!!😱 I have never ever jumped up so fast and RAN for the front door in a dead on sprint in my life, with my BFF right behind me (she was literally up against my back!)!!! Each bang was perfectly timed like one second apart... We ran out of the house right as my parents and the movers were pulling up! I refused to step back into that house and walked my BFF home... we didn’t say a SINGLE WORD to each other on the 5 minute walk over to her house. We were BOTH absolutely TERRIFIED AND SHAKING SO HARD WE COULD BARELY WALK! I sat in the HOT, HUMID truck waiting to leave with my parents! (It was July in South Texas! 🥵) I could have explained away the first two knocks but the rest, ESPECIALLY the bang on the ROOF and then the BANG UNDER... THE COUCH... were absolutely IMPOSSIBLE! (We had no basement, it was a ranch style home on a slab...!) Writing this out, over 25 years later, has my heart in my stomach, my stomach in my arse and all the hairs on my entire body standing up!!! I never told my parents because I though they wouldn’t believe me or possibly think I was CRAZY! My BFF and I NEVER, EVER talked about it! I moved four hours away one year later and started college and haven’t seen my BFF ever again! The only other “weird” thing that happened in that house was how I woke up at 3:47 AM... EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, on the dot! I told my parents and they told me that one of our neighbors probably was heading into work at one of the chemical plants (oil and gas) at the same time every night... 🤔 NOPE! This would only be possible if they worked 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year and just happened to walk out and start their truck at the EXACT SAME TIME...TO THE MINUTE... every single night! When I talked to our neighbor lady, she told me that she witnessed someone she DID NOT recognize, closing the kitchen blinds (our kitchen windows were across from one another) at 3:30 - 4:00 AM the night of the murders! They did catch and arrest the people responsible for the murders pretty quickly... THANK GOD ALMIGHTY! I guess our neighbor actually gave the police some details about the vehicle parked in front of the house (we lived at the back of a cul de sac, so there wasn’t much room to park on the street) and a description of the man she saw closing the blinds but refused to testify because she was scared someone would come after her and her family! The story was that the husband and wife that were murdered were part of a HUGE drug smuggling ring and something went wrong... Our house was HUGE with GORGEOUS landscaping. I guess that’s how they could afford that house...😬 I was SOOO happy to hear that the perpetrators were in PRISON by the time we moved into the house! There was like a year and a half between the murders and me and my parents moving in. There were beautiful, BRAND NEW, hardwood floors in the living room and my parent’s master suite bath was totally gutted and remodeled with BRAND NEW EVERYTHING! I have always wondered WHY I was never bothered by any paranormal activity (unless you want to count me waking up at the EXACT TIME every single morning which was likely the time of the murders...) ... until the very last day when we were moving out??? I am VERY thankful that the “entities/ghosts” waited until my very last few moments in that house to let me know they were there! I have had MANY paranormal encounters in my life, from my earliest memories up to about a month ago! I totally IGNORE certain things because I believe “they” feed on fear (some of them anyway...). If anyone has any questions or would like to hear about any of my other crazy encounters, please let me know! Love from Texas ♥️🤠🌴

@Andrew Bailey it's an emphasis, using caps on certain words a way to elevate the form of speech and create a dramatic effect when you read in your head and don't have someone who narrates it to you

Kid calls Mom and asked her to make horn noises as she drives up w/o giving any other explanation. IS IT SO HARD TO SIMPLY SAY, “PPL ARE TRYING TO BREAK INTO THE HOUSE, RUN THEM DOWN!!”??? 😩😖😫

Honestly these just sound like wendigos probably not your traditional sense of them but some subcategory of the windigo species kind of baffling someone doesn't know what a wendigo looks like or the fact that can mimic voices they hear
