WW1 seems to be a subject that's ignored by the Creepypasta community- you don't see very many pastas about it anyway. It's a shame because there's so much you can do with the subject, I mean the subject in itself is quite creepy to begin with that you don't need to add spirits or monsters to it necessarily- I mean in this case you can make the assumption that someone is going around killing indiscriminately and collecting eyes as trophies. they're pretty much taking advantage of the situation in order to satisfy the urge to kill. Or it could have been a soldier who- after seeing the carnage of the war- lost their mind and became crazy. Overall this was a very chilling tale, because you as the reader know it's fake, but there's always going to be that thought in the back of your mind that thinks something like this could have easily happened back then, after all there would have been no way to record it.

My grandpa told me about when he went on a raid, he got separated, the fog was so thick he couldn't see 5 feet in front of him, he thought he turned around, he did a 360, he was sobbing, all he saw was bodies and holes, he tripped and landed in wire, he was 5 or so meters from the enemy line when he screamed for help, luckily they cut him out but held him as a POW, they interrogated him, he didn't talk, they thought he knew something so they kept him alive, and the next raid he was recovered and treated, day late, an alli shell hit the bunker he was in.

Sohn, hebe deine Kinder hier an, es tut mir leid, dass ich dich in solch einem schrecklichen Ort erhoben habe, ich wünschte, ich könnte es ändern" translation "is this what freedom feels like? son, raise your children here, i am sorry i raised you in such a terrible place, i wish i could change it."

The battle of the Somme was one of the worst tragedies in human history wave after wave of young men sent to their death by stupid old men and they knew they were going to die but still ran out of the trenches straight into a torrent of machine gunfire . They were truly Lions led by donkeys as the saying goes . During the battle, which lasted from July to November of 1916, the British suffered about 420,000 casualties, which included many from volunteer battalions. The French lost about 200,000, and Germans casualties are estimated at 500,000 and no one gained any territory

He also was a POW (Prisoner Of War). He never would talk about the horrible things they did to him. Now, he is in a special care, in a wheelchair. We are visting him today, and giving him his favorite candy, Soft Peppermints. I have a lot of family members who served in the military. One, whom is my uncle, He was famous and was named after a warship. He sadly went missing, never to be found again. They only found his dogtags in the ocean... eyeless corpses are extremely common on the battlefield. crows and other scavengers go for the softest parts first - eyes, lips, noses, earlobes. not saying it wasn't hypothetically some kind of paranormal event, but experienced soldiers wouldn't be particularly surprised or terrified by eyeless corpses.
@MrsBoogie0027 жыл бұрын
theebondetamp27 I think what made it creepy was that they were fresh corpses. Usually it takes a little while of being dead for any scavengers to come for the eyes. Plus the hanging on the wire part. And of course being lost in the fog, getting so turned around, and not hearing anything but none of the soldiers making it out.

@@9bang88 “shell shock” was kind of a generalized term but now there is more of an understanding between PTSD and shell shock. Even today shell shock is a neurological impairment that is caused by shockwaves from explosions that actually causes physical damage to the brain.

I'm reminded of a story my mawmaw once told about my pawpaw. She only told it once, and only after he'd left to go to the store. It was after he came home from his time in the Airforce, where he was stationed in the control tower, or wherever it is that they bring the planes in for landing; I don't know much about aviation. I think he served in Korea, but it might have been WWII - it wasn't something we talked about, and I've never gotten around to asking after he passed. According to the story, the moment he got home, he stripped off his uniform, went straight to the back yard, and burned it. Buried his medals in the ground. And only then did he go back inside and greet his wife. Mawmaw and pawpaw are long dead now, so I've got no way of confirming the story, but we don't have his uniform or any medals, so it could be true. I just wonder how many of his close friends flew out and never came back, all the while he was there helpless to do anything about it. I think that's probably worse than any monster prowling through the fog
