The photographs on glass may have been examples of pictures developed using the Collodion Process. It allowed for photographs to essentially be developed in portable darkrooms that were usually made out of converted carts and pulled by horses allowing for pictures to be developed out in the field. It was first thought up by frenchman Gustave Le Grey in the early 1850s but Frederick Archer first developed the method.

Love the photos in the boxes. Dry glass negatives were common used between 1880's and 1920's. It was a method called ambrotype print. It was factory produced in 1871 by R.L.Maddox. Just gives you an idea of the age of those photos. I could send a good day looking at all of them.

I love photography and know a bit about this type. Negatives were made using glass rather than paper, which made the photo image clear from 1854 through 1900. It was done through the collodion wet-plate process. It became prevalent from the 1850s through the 1880s and was discovered in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer. You had to have a dark room, a dark box that fit the glass, a black cap over the lens, and a black curtain over the entire camera. Then the subject would remain perfectly still for about 18-20 seconds from when the cap was removed. Then the box would be taken to a dark room and develop immediately. It’s actually quite the process and very time sensitive because it could not dry before taking the photo and developing, or it would be ruined. What is fascinating is now they have ways now to scan those negatives, so they are preserved for generations to come.

Photos on glass was circa 1851 that brought sharper images. Dry plate glass negatives were in common use between the 1880s and the late 1920s.A cart pulled around by horse, first dark room. Of course there is no real monitory value since digital age, however this glass negative still allows the use of old family heirloom photos to be replaced. Which I think is cool.

Why are there so many abandoned mansions in Europe that look like the owners just got up and left one day without taking anything with them? That's so crazy to me! It's almost like these places were created by Hollywood just for paranormal investigators to investigate for profit! Actually I doubt anyone could create a more perfect setting for this tbh! Anyway this is another banger guys, keep on doing what you're doing 👍✌️

Glass plate photography. The plates were coated with a solution of colloidal silver which, exposed to light, would capture the image.

These are glass plate negatives. You can get prints made from them. Honestly these should be given to a museum since the owners are gone and dead. These items in this house, including the large furniture and glass negatives, should be preserved by someone. Oh how I wish you guys would contact some museums to see what they can do. Cheers

Those are ALBUMEN NEGATIVES. The first successful method of photography on glass was the albumen process, developed in 1848 by Abel Niépce de Saint-Victor. A glass plate was coated with albumen extracted from egg white and treated with light-sensitive chemicals. Very fine detail was captured in the negative, but exposures of 5-15 minutes were required depending on the light. This made it unsuitable for portraiture, although it could be used for landscapes and architectural studies. The albumen on glass process remained in use until the 1860s, although it never achieved widespread popularity. Hence, albumen negatives are rarely found. They can only be distinguished from wet collodion negatives by complex chemical tests. George Eastman refined the process; he lived in Rochester NY.

I know you have your reasons for why you don't investigate prior to the site, but I really wish you would. There are times that when your through with your ghost hunting you leave not knowing much of anything. Its kind of like somebody telling a joke and forgot the punch line. It just makes me feel like we are missing simple things like what was this mansion used for, family, or perhaps it had different functions. Why did who ever resided there just up and leave? Now on this clip I am jumping the gun a bit because I just started watching this clip so I really don't know if you found out any information through the ghost or not. I just like to say you all do a great ghostly hunt and I just love watching your clips. Thank you Nancyjane👍
