Creepy Time Limits # 2

Time limits. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. I like to take my time when playing video games, enjoying the experience at my own pace. But the moment I'm told that I'm going to be working against a timer, I can't help panicing. I'm thrown out of my comfort zone, and even the easiest tasks become tough to accomplish. Sure, it's good to be thrown out of a loop from time to time, and there's nothing wrong with a variety of challenges, but I always want the scary timer section cleared as soon as possible and move onto something else a little tense. In this series, I take a look at timer sequences in games that got to me the most.
NOTE: In cases where bad endings and scary timers overlap, (Example: Bad ending requires a timer to run out) Creepy Bad Endings will win out, and the video will be a CBE video.

I got a theory, "Arceus" see's you and your partners as heroes since you go on daring missions to rescue people and stop evil. Once you take too long on a floor he rejects you from it because he believes you are lost. He doesn't want to watch a rescue team need to get rescued and have their reputation shatter. So in order to prevent you from getting lost and having to face shame, he summons a storm to gust you out. The gusts of wind beforehand was the storm gathering. The reason he doesn't rescue normal pokemon who get lost is because he see's no worth within them. What's the point of helping something worthless?

This always scared me as a kid and it still does today! It first happen to me in explorers of Darkness when I was in the frozen time dungeon that was already creepy enough. I got to what I consider a glitched floor that didn't have a staircase *anywhere.* After a while I was getting annoyed at the fact I couldn't find the staircase, but then the screen started to *violently rumble.* I was confused at the idea of this unseen force and started panicking. The rumbling was getting louder and more constant, my heart was beating out of my chest. Until I was in a narrow hallway fighting a steelix, and then, BOOM! I was done for and I resisted crying a little out of fear when I saw the final text box appear. I was incredibly confused about my death if it was story driven or if my copy was haunted ( I've read a few creepy pastas by that time). I couldn't find any information about this when I googled it and assumed the latter, I didn't touch that game for *weeks.*

Maybe Arceus creates the floors as you go along. The dungeon is a pocket dimension which changes every time it is entered, and each floor disappears after a certain amount of time. If this happens, all in the floor get completely destroyed. Arceus' plan? Blow them out if something goes wrong or the floor is about to collapse. (Sometimes, items can resist this wind, explaining how you lose some stuff.) He can also destroy floors if a new explorer comes in and the old floors haven't been destroyed yet.

klonvomhaus every floor, like F1,F2,BF1,BF2, etc. If you stay around on a floor for too long, you get blown out of the dungeon. Its much like Pokemon Black2/White2 in the abyssal dungeon. if you proceed in the next room, the timer will reset

However, I do wonder what the strange markings on the walls mean in the abyssal ruins and what caused the pulse of water. Finally how did the ruins end up underwater in the first place?

@@arandomfoxhasappeared7426 am no, because you can do a one hit ko on the final boss eaay with a few grimm Seeds and one effektiv hit. Like vs dialga 1. Eat 2 grimm Seeds 2. Use Dig or focus punch ? I forgott the Attacks name And you get him with 1 hit and over 475 damage in like 4 Turns. This is the fastes way to kill all the legendäries in the game.

I think that "unseen force" is the dungeon itself. The dungeons create themself new everytime someone go and try to beat/discover them, so that "unseen force" is the wind blowing trough the dungeon when its start to become new (which happens also from time to time i think). But fact is: It´s stops the player to power level himself.

Chances are the unseen force is raquaza or tornadus. Both of them are basically wind gods in the games. Plus raquaza was introduced in gen III, I think even being the final boss of the first mystery dungeon game's main game (someone correct me if I'm wrong). As for tornadus, well you already had that down when you made this video.

I think I know why it's there from a design perspective. (Played Gates to Infinity!) I would find the staircase, huddle my team around me in a corner, and fast forward turns. This made enemy Pokemon come to attack and my friends would defeat them, really easy exp. The timer forced me to keep exploring instead of farming.

That does remind me, I remember while playing Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (which was also made my Chunsoft), there was an NPC that mentions the mysterious force that will blow you out of the dungeon if you take too long. I forget the exact text, I think the guy mentions that the force was from a certain god, but I do recall that the NPC does state that "After all, wanderers aren't supposed to stay in one place for so long."

The theme of most of the Mystery games is of a team that rescues pokemon, correct? that's usually the middle goal of the game, and it's how it sets up it's story. Humans are not meant to be pokemon, and, as hinted at many times before, the world itself is also alive (maybe even a pokemon) The unseen force, is the world itself rejecting the human/pokemon. It doesn't do so in the town because of the population itself - it's hard to determine whether or not one pokemon was once a human or not, but outside, with barely any others nearby? This is made even clearer by the fact that, by logic alone, after going through so many turns, the other pokemon in the dungeon should all be unconcious, or there should be very little of them left, so it would make it easier to find the one that doesn't belong.

The only pokemons who have relatively enough power to repel legendaries like Dialga and Palkia are Mew, Mewtwo, and Arceus. Mew because of its DNA (and pranking personality, if we're putting motive into question), Mewtwo because of its enhancements over Mew's DNA (and its image, if motive must be explained), and Arceus because of its creation powers (and the fact he has to "rearrange" the "mystery" dungeon, as a motive).

I like to believe that the unseen force is the dungeon itself. Every one who played a mystery dungeon knows that a dungeon changes every time you enter it. So my point is: The dungeons doesn't like to stay the same for too long so it tosses you out, what gives it the possibillity to change again. Maybe dungeons are even living things. There's another theory about the unseen force: That it's the Mystery Dungeon about to change itself. Since they are different each time, it would make sense if there was a fairly frequent changing cycle. Plus if it generated a new floor while you are on it, it may not be survivable or you could get permastuck in a wall or something. So it just boots you out. That's unsettling in it's own way of course because it's like the dungeons themselves are alive, but the dungeons are made to always be possible to reach the stairs (though some RNG sure feels like they're not at times, lol!). So some sentience wouldn't be too out of the question because it could be thinking about how to make itself doable for it's inevitable restructuring and not off explorers outright. That would explain other Mystery Dungeon games too because they also randomize but aren't set in the Pokemon world to be Arceus. Though those worlds could have their own mythical gods as well of course. So who knows. Maybe it'll be revealed one day or maybe not and they'll keep players guessing.

Yeah, this nearly made me crap myself when I first discovered it. What I was trying to do was recruit a hard pokemon to get, and I was just getting unlucky, when suddenly I saw that first message pop up. I was a little unnerved, but I purposefully stayed on that floor cause I was curious about it. The "Something's coming" message made me think a legendary was about to show up or something! So I got super scared and just started waiting for whatever was coming to get me. Scariest buildup I ever had to sit through! D: But then I just got forced out the dungeon, which I kinda thought was a little disappointing. I thought Poke-Satan was gonna descend upon my team and eat them or somethin. I had a weird imagination XD

Sure, you could just switch out, but in a double battle with the last two pokemon on each side out and the counter hits zero...

first time i saw this i was playing pmd time and i was dicking around in the dungeon before hidden land. i used a drought orb to drain the water and had my teammates (chimchar and someone else) wait by the stairs. i went and found pokemon and lured them back to my allies so they could kill them. then i saw the message... something is stirring... i nearly pissed myself. i set my ally ai to follow and hauled ass out of there. then in sky i decided to figure out what would happen if that "something" got too close. now i know to never dick around too long otherwise the dungeon will shuckle-defense-curl-two-helping-hand-flower-gift-power-swap-lv1-ledyba-sunny-day-rollout me (basically 1HKO)

Or, at least, those who I've talked to (admittedly not people who write official lore or anything) seem to think so. I don't really have a clue why Tornadus hasn't been mentioned yet, maybe its because its Gen 5? Also, "Tornadus can travel at speeds of 200 miles per hour (300 kilometers per hour). It can also whip up storms with its tail, and is able to blow away houses." It has also been stated that he is a trickster. So he blows you out of the dungeon making you restart it and laughing all the while.

I think the reason for the turn limit is to prevent players from causing an integer overflow, where the value of the turns taken goes over a limit of 255. Integer overflows could cause glitches, so if this is the case, pretty good, but freaky, glitch prevention system.

Since I've played Mystery Dungeon for a long time, I can probably give you my theory on who this "Unseen Force" is. In one of my Mystery Dungeon games (I think it was either Blue or Time), they didn't call it the "Unseen Force". I'm not sure what they called it, but I remember being a little kid and saying, "What the hell?" to my screen when I got kicked out. My theory on who it is really depends on the dungeon. Instead of leaves all the time, sometimes there's snow in the snowy regions or sand in the desert. So, I believe that it really depends on the inhabitants, but I believe that it could be a legendary Pokemon from each of the dungeons that can be doing this as punishment for dwelling in their territory for too long.

That Unseen Force mechanic freaked me the heck out when I was young. But when I was exploring a dungeon and it took me forever to try to get out of the floor, the force got to me and I got so upset, mainly because it happened on a 99 Floor Dungeon, and I just gave up after that.

This sounds very much like Persona 3 when exploring Tartarus. Except there you can actually see what comes after you, and its very creepy, as its a representative of death pretty much called "The Reaper". Your mission control will warn you about its presence approaching much like this game does. And when it finally does show, you'll hear rattling chains in the darkness, and actual growls should it find you. Thing is, it knows exactly where you are, and will head to your position as soon as possible. If you havent found the stairs yet, or are far away from it, you could potentially be screwed.

I think it is arceus, but instead of punishing you, he's trying to save you. Because no matter how long you stay in there, you will faint evetually (but this is not counting the unknown force) Arceus is making you fall asleep, and taking you back home, that's what I think is happening
