I really like how Coronation Day slightly subverts the "I am god" trope. There's a subtle doubt conveyed in the line "I believe I am the god of this forest" which makes it feel less like an attempt to scare the player/break the 4th wall and more like another puzzle piece to be used when interpreting the story.

The Godzilla NES game is better at being scary than most of the other games on this list honestly. It isn't done yet but it's very promising. That being said Coronation Day is probably my favorite creepy fan game, it's very underrated and I'm happy to see it getting more attention because it's absolutely deserved.

Kirby Avalanche is immediately not normal. There's one Puyo falling instead instead of two. Since Kirby Avalanche is just a Puyo Puyo game [like Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine], it uses Puyos instead of something else. Edit: The Sonic in the Sonic.EXE PC Port is named Lord X.

About Nintendo.exe: What I really feel like this game could’ve done was to hold back on immediately being messed up, how it began with the title screen saying that it was a test cartridge actually gave me a lot of hope that it would be cool beta versions of games that devolve into being messed up, there’s just not really much pacing, one moment it’s normal and the next it’s just spook and that doesn’t leave much tension to be had and doesn’t really give it any sort of realism factor I know it doesn’t have to feel real, but again, with the game supposedly being a test cartridge, it would be neat to see it as a normal test cartridge, maybe designed for investors or a Space World showcase or something like that before the games become naturally messed up due to the fact that they were never designed to be played for more than a few minutes That’s the type of thing I like to see in creepypastas, stories that could be at least a bit realistic if you ignore how outlandish it is, this game sadly just isn’t able to that and it leaves it feeling sort of generic, especially with the “help me” and cheap jumpscares and the possessed cartridge trope that’s been done to death About Sonic PC Port: This one does some things better in the aspect of quality, of course you don’t need the most extravagant things to make a good story but this one definitely gets that game feel pretty well done but I also feel like, yet again, it just goes too quick into the spookyness, there’s no time for the tension to rise, it’s just green hill and then hell, no real build up, which is also a problem the original sonic exe struggled with (though it was written by an idiot so it struggled with a lot more than just that) I feel as if a lot of people just see the amazing quality and the cool 4th wall breaks then label this as the best creepypasta game ever even it’s really not, it’s got issues with its pacing, and if this is only meant to be the beginning since it seems to be a demo, then it’s worrying how they can even make this anything scary considering we’re already in the deep end and the “story” has barely even started About Coronation Day: Now this, THIS is how you do pacing, this pretty much fixes all the issues I had with the previous 2, it builds up slowly, steadily rising the tension, until the reveal of the peach entity Additionally, it doesn’t pull all its cards out immediately, it remains mysterious, not revealing everything about its story, leaving everything super ambiguous, which makes everything so much more terrifying because of what we don’t know

The Coronation Day has to be by far my favorite of the bunch. Almost like Silent Hill, it doesn’t throw in a cheap jump scare to spook the player, it let’s the atmosphere sink in and that alone can give off that uncanny valley feeling, especially a big contrast from Mario’s bright and cheery worlds we all are used to

The SMW part of the first game is actually pretty detailed. The background is basically exactly how it'd look like if you assign the wrong tileset to the background, and the level itself is a test level that actually exists in the real game. It's inaccessible of course, but that's not something a little Lunar Magic can't fix. Definitely was not expecting that level of detail that almost nobody will pick up on from a creepypasta game.

Well, Randy Becker's fangames usually kill off the main characters. However, Kirby's fangame is the one exception since he turns evil after eating a strange Waddle Dee and eats everyone else. Seeing that the fangame is made by the same guy, it's safe to assume that the entity in the supposed demo cartridge is "Ybrik", the same Kirby from Dreamland.exe.

Fun fact: the Super Mario World background glitch at 4:56 exists in the original game and it will happen if you give the wrong background graphical settings in a certain level if you are ROM hacking. It is kinda annoying having this glitch because it takes forever to know which graphics are wrong. I don't know your opinion about this creepypasta game, but I gotta say they nailed the bugs.

Coronation Day is pretty amazing. I still remember coming across a Let's Player who went through it, and that led me down the creepypasta game rabbit hole. Lots of interesting games out there. One that is kinda creepy but more focused on gameplay would be Il Maniero Spettrale and Call of Cthulhu. Both being Super Mario World hacks. If you haven't seen them, you might enjoy them. Word of caution, the Call of Cthulhu one is pretty tough to find.

To explain Lord X or X from Sonic PC port is a extraterrestrial, not demon, that is obsessed with fun, however he has a twisted view on fun, Lord X loves inflicting pain on others and even on himself as he finds it fascinating, also Lord X will slowly torture victims if they’re not scared of him, as the more fear they have, the more fun Lord X has. Lord X also wears a Vessel of Sonic that has aged and underneath is another lankier freakishly tall Sonic Vessel known as a internal vessel that is drastically exaggerated then the one he dons. What I find the most scary in video games is when it goes from all upbeat and filled with music to emptiness I think that would’ve made the ending “scary”, but if you don’t want that just put an outro Ps I loved the video

Lost Silver is my #1 favorite Creepypasta, #2 being Ben Drowned. Lost Silver does a great job at it's story telling, leaving you feeling like something is gonna jump and scare you at any moment, but nothing does. I love a good jump scary story once in a while, but stories like Lost Silver are my favorites. No over usage of blood, "hyper realism", jump scares (if any). Just a melancholy story leaving you feeling sad by the end.
