I can't think of any particular benefit to this feature. Like a kind of creo format zip file? Is the embedded model file size fater?

I recommend you view my short playlist on Embedded Components and Inseparable Assemblies. In a video from years ago, I discuss the use cases for this functionality. I have a video coming out next week where I cover the imported assemblies use case for vendor parts, as the other commenter pointed out. Another major use case is for companies who work a lot with design partners and vendors. Often they want to manage a single file rather than multiple files, especially when they are doing a lot of back and forth collaboration. You might not be able to think of benefits for new functionality, but trust me, if PTC puts it in the software, customers were asking for it to be added.
