One of the better overviews of the interchange assemblies. Are you aware of a way to control the replacing action programmatically (using pro-program)? This way you can have parameters drive which part is used... in my application I don't want to have to manually interchange

James, yes, Pro/PROGRAM can be used to swap out different members of an Interchange Assembly. My videos on Pro/PROGRAM for parts and assemblies are way overdue.

Hey man thanks for sharing the knowledge. Great video. Is there a way to control this by using a family table? I have a family table in which I am using a frame with 3 different variants depending on the width but when the frame's depth changes so does the part number and it does not belong to the original family variants, for this reason CREO won't accept me typing in the different part number under the frame column (hopefully I explained that in a way that makes sense). If there's a way to do it that'd be awesome bc otherwise I'll have to manually add all of the frames and only control the suppression state with a Y or N from the family table. Cheers!

Take a look at my series on Pro/PROGRAM. I think in the last video, I cover how to swap out using Interchange. Maybe this will get what you need.

Does anyone know if there is a way to convert an existing assembly into an interchange assembly?

You can actually do it in two steps. Save the assembly as a Configurable Module and then save the Configurable Model as an Interchange Assembly.

Hello Dave, Is this concept similar to Top-Down assembly Modular Design? can you please explain the Modular Design used in Top-Down Assembly Design in a video? Thank you.

It is not similar to Top Down. You should be very careful about mixing Top Down and Modular because it can blow up on you.

Hemababu, thanks for your question. That’s a very common issue for users. What can help is using buttons on the dashboard to display the component in its own separate window, turn off the display of the component in the main window, and then click the Zoom All button in the In Graphics Toolbar in the main window. Later today I will post a video showing how to do this. Thanks again for watching and for posting a comment.
