The guru ones don't allow you to plum up with overdepth, the cresta ones do

The design of those old fashioned style plummets is flawed. The pole plummet style of plummet with the silicon on top, and variants of, are better in every situation. The advantages are marginal, but sometimes those small margins make the difference in angling.
