It's a terrible shame. We as a South African group were absolutely gutted for you Sam. The silence in our room watching the red card decision spoke volumes about how we as South Africans felt too. No gloating. Just deep sympathy. You are a great captain and your team were fantastic ... and we were lucky (and grateful) to get one over you! This game could've gone either way. But 1point +1point+1point = our win. So grateful it was between our two teams. And our country really did need this

Wayne Barnes is a great ref and currently one of the best out there. The red card sent the ABs home. Very hard to play rugby for nearly 55 minutes with a man down. Look we had our opportunities but we didn’t capitalise. Simple as that. On the bright side we kept the Bokkes to 12 points and also scoreless in the 2nd half with only 14 men. That is a mighty fxcken effort. I’d like to see the Northerners pull that one off
@scroopynooperz9051
@scroopynooperz9051 8 ай бұрын
they're not very gracious in defeat though - the 2 cards for head contact were very different and they should have known how head contact has been ref'd this whole tournament. Kolisi contacted Savea he was very low, bent at the hips and it wasnt direct contact. Cane's contact he seemingly made no attempt to get low and the player took direct shoulder contact in the face so the mitigating chances were slim. All you can ask for from the refs, is consistency and they delivered that when it came to head contact. Can't blame that one on Wayne Barnes either since it was the TMO. The Boks seemed to have taken their feet off the gas when Cane was sent off though, so in the they probably made that look harder than it should have been (Kolisi could have put the game to bed but butchered it by not passing), though they got there in the end.

This is what world rugby is about. The great vs the great. Southern hemisphere dominance. 9 of 10 world cups. I hope that the Springboks stay in the championship. It would be a great pity if we were to move into the 6 nations tournament. NZ will come back at us and win the championship next year. The build to 2027 begins now. Hopefully we get another final like this again. New Zealand were hard done by, but if the roles were reversed, the same would be said of South Africa... losing a key player in minute 3, taking away our scrum and line out competition (Fourie put in a massive shift, but Bongie was supposed to go the full 80). I think the NZ powers that be made a massive blunder by telling Foster that he was being replaced. In a game with small margins... that seems like a crazy thing to do before the biggest tournament in the sport.

I can assure you that theres no other team in the world South Africans have a massive respect for more than The All Blacks. They are the epitome of how rugby should be played. Great ambassadors of rugby on and off the field. Absolutely world stars. It was a game of two halves. The All Blacks gave out in the second half guns blazing. It was a game of margins and could have gone either way. NZ lads should be proud of that performance. Fortunately we made it. 🇿🇦❤️ well done AB👏 ... This was tough to watch. As a South African, I feel nothing but empathy for the ABs. They shouldn't have been expected to do this post-match interview. It's almost inhumane to expect them to sit there and answer these questions. They're basically mourning. We've been there ourselves and it's extremely difficult to sit there after such a close match. There should be a rule to give the losing team at least one day before any interviews.

One cannot prove maliciousness but must judge the action taken. Except perhaps the way Cane looks at Kriel’s head, never drops his body, and puts a shoulder directly into his head. I say direct because it’s not as though the tackle slipped up, it started at the head. Kriel was a key player and Bongi had been removed with similar foul play. But again, impossible to prove whether Cane meant to send a jey player off the field as they had done earlier with Mbonambe.
