Crew Review: Jura Ena 9 One-Touch Superautomatic

Finally available to the rest of us, we take the Ena9 one-touch out for a test drive. Gail walks through the features of this superauto espresso machine and makes a one-touch cappuccino.

I bought ENA 5 for my parents. It's a great full-auto-machine for everyday use, for those who don't have time for the PF game in the morning. Frothing the milk works good and you're able to prepare a good capuco or latte. Good looking (I got the red one), trouble-free, very easy to use and maintain. My parents are loving this machine. I would recommend Jura.

@lancer050 We do have a video called 'Selecting a Machine: Jura Superautomatics' that is from March of this year; it covers several of the currently available models except for the J9 and Ena 9 as they weren't available at the time. I really love both! The ENA 9 has more programmability, but the Espresseria also does a great job and is half the price. I always recommend going to the site and reading the pros/cons for each and then looking at the user reviews. That will give you a better idea of which one is more suited to your needs! -Kaylie

@vencisk If you are a latte/capp drinker and will be steaming a lot of milk - Syntia; if you're drinking mostly shots and Americanos - Ena. The steam wand sucks on the Jura so I don't usually recommend them for folks who will be doing a lot of milk frothing. - Kat

@whoshare73 Don't think there will be issues with that milk, we seemed to have a fine time with lactose free milk in our testing. The voltage will be a problem, however; you might have to look into some kind of adaptation and for it, not really sure. - Kat

@whoshare73 It doesn't; at least in the demo model we received, there was no thermos or stainless steel container for attaching, so you're either putting that hose in a milk jug or glass of milk or picking up the Cool Control fridge. - Kat

On these one-touchs, those drinks are just a virtue of programming the one-touch to produce more or less milk. We just have standardized is as one drink with shot and milk foaming in order to demo it in these crew reviews, as it's impossible to make every possible drink on every machine and also wrap it up in a relatively timely manner ;) - Kat

3 - solid color case; steam wand only. 5 - two tone case (black silver, red silver, white silver) and the option to put a cappuccinatore on it. 9 - one-touch cappuccino only, no steam wand functionality. - Kat

I have a quick question, unrelated to this machine. My husband enjoys latte, but he likes to sweeten them. At what point during the process would it be best to sweeten them without having to stir it and disturb my beautiful rosette? I'm practicing latte art, but then he ruins it by stirring in his sugar or syrups.

I would program it for 120ml and then hit the brew twice so that it will do a double shot for you - Kat

@TarotLadyLissa That's tough; there's really no great time to do this -- you could put in the sweetener before you pull the shot and see how that goes, but there would need to be some stirring at some point. You could always experiment with steaming the syrup with the milk, some of them work better that way than others - Kat

Has anyone got all the preset settings for all the drinks since reset is not possible? 😭 I managed to try factory reset once but it's still my own settings of amount of water and milk!

SCG: could you please consider doing a top 5 super automatic machines including as many Jura machines as you can? I am looking at buying a Jura but lets be honest they are expensive! I drink skinny latte so they would need the milk attachment to perform the steam/milk process. I would be forever grateful if you could do this for me, as I am worrying about spending a lot on a coffee machine. Kind regards Paul P.s keep up the top work!

can you help me figure out how to make the perfect drink. these are my measurements Cappuccino: water: 30ml, flavour: normal, milk: 25 seconds. Latte: water:60ml, flavour: strong, milk: 40 seconds Espresso 1 cup: 35ml Espresso 2 cup: how can I program it to make 1 cup at max size (240ml) to make an Americano? Thank You in advance

I am in the market for a high end coffee/espresso maker, not this distracting non-entertainment. Wholelattelove, wow!!! They are brilliant at giving the information while allowing their natural personality to entertain, not any of this silly nonsense these two interject. All is well, now that I found a resource who understands the needs of various consumers.

Be funny, lol, if you can. but make sure that above all else the details and specifications are communicated; focus less on being in front of the camera and entertaining the people who know them. Such a let down to tune in to see and hear them talk OVER/brush pass the details that you tuned in just to hear. I'm done
