Crewe to Chester. Through the beautiful Cheshire Countryside.

Filmed on a charter train a number of years ago. We depart Crewe Platform 12 and head past the former loco works and and the Electric depot and out into the country side for this lovely trip.

Travelled this many times in late 60s....there used to be a line Gayton and Heswall..is that still there ?

24 miles between Crewe to Chester without any stations, passes under the A41 and A51 and over the A49 roads. Crewe to Stafford is 25 miles.

What was the charter which had so many photographers on the platforms? From the look of the shadow around 2.25, it seems to be a class 66.

it was a 66 to Blaenau.

There has been a recent campaign to get Beeston Castle station re-opened. One argument is that a car park there would attract a lot of people who now drive to Crewe.

Plus they've built a new Housing Estate where the Pub and Market used to be, so it makes sense to rebuild the Station.
