Hi! I don't know yet if I like or dislike satin stitch, because is very dificult to me to make a good edge, but I'm still trying. Thanks for the leaf tutorial, I loved the result and I'll try to do leafs using this stitch. And yes, I would like to see your five stitchs to do leafs!

how many strands is this? and do you fold you thread in two?

You can fold it in half! For this tutorial I just used all six strands of thread.
