Omg thank you for this video! I just beame interested in embroidery like 2 days ago and have been going through tutorial videos like crazy. Yours is the only video that explained when or for what a specific stitch is used. Most other tutorials show how to do a stitch but either don't name it or say what the stitches are used for. Massive rookie question: can you do stem stiches in circular/bent shapes, for framing for instance? Does it still show or does it have to be straight to show this nicely torsaded figure?
@charlottemarie32033 жыл бұрын
Really!!
@morganmills13 Жыл бұрын
@@CamTrs Yes, stem stitches can work for straight lines, curves, circles, you name it, really. I personally just make smaller stitches around curves & circles, though. Less chance of buggering it up.

Clear easy directions but I really struggle with the chain stitch. I made up a story to help me do the stitch; "a bunny pops up from its burrow and pops down the same rabbit hole. The bunny hops forward, but needs to go back to its original burrow to pop out and take a look around, then the bunny goes down that exact same burrow. The bunny hops forward again, and again needs to go back to its original burrow to take a look around before hopping ahead again". Silly but following the bunny has really helped me to get this stitch going. I still need lots and lots of practice.🐰🐰🐰🐇

@riverbirchthreads47914 жыл бұрын
Loudiva Pramudya hey there! Thank you. Make sure you stop stitching with an amount of floss you feel that you are able to tie a knot with. I usually just tie one knot but if you are working with say 1 or 2 strands of floss maybe tie a double knot to be safe! The knot should sit against the backside of the fabric and then you can trim the ends with small scissors

such a helpful video! @riverbirchthreads4791 should we be doubling our embroidery thread/threading the needle so the floss is like a double strand? And with the back stitch, do you just push the needle back through the same hole as the previous stitch? Or do you actually split the threads of the previous stitch and push through them?

This is very helpful. You note to keep the stitch length consistent, but are there any guidelines as to how long a stitch should be? I tend to hand sew with very small stitches and am wondering if that would affect the look of the work.

A good question and truthfully I don’t know! Maybe but I’ve always adopted about a 1cm stitch length (depending of course what I’m working on) I think just whatever works for you and your style is probably best
