Thank you so much for this video! I use it a bunch. I did not use your grinding technique however as I was able to get the starter out. Also, the bolt that you used needle nose pliers on, I found a way to get an 8 mm socket down on it. You can’t push it in from the front by the cam chain tensioner, you have to drop it down from the top with a very short extension. But it works great. I have pictures and a short video that I would gladly send you if there was somewhere to send it to. In addition I agree 100% with using the OEM parts.

Thanks for your help. I'm doing the same thing to my 450.

Tad shakey but we get the drill. Why did you grind it off if the old one came out ok ? (without a grind I assume) ? On mine I hear the starter spin but it doesn't catch. What could it be?

I just bought a 450x and it’s doing the single click and not turning over. Was that what yours was doing before replacing the starter?

Alex Workman mine was also doing the single click, and the guy I bought it from said it was just that the battery was bad. It turns out the starter was bad. Here’s what’s interesting, are used this video to remove my starter, and then I bench tested it with a 12 V battery. It actually worked when I bench tested it so I put the starter back in and try to number of other things still just getting the single click. I finally ran 12 V power directly to the starter while it was on the bike, and it did not work. So I pulled the starter out a second time, and found out that it was feeling intermittently. If you are just getting that single click sound, test to make sure you were getting 12V on the positive connection at the starter when you press the starter button. If you are getting 12 V when you hold that starter button in, and your starter is not turning, you have a faulty starter.

thanks but what about the cam chain Tensioner when you go to put it back in because the middle spring would of un sprung itself then when you put it back in wouldn't it be out to long and as you crank up the 2 mounting bolts cause a lot more tension on the cam chain needing to back off the the little flat spring screw under that middle bolt cover. just my thought maybe it doesn't matter.
