im literally falling short of words to describe this, this video took me back in time! this was the time (2010--2014) which made me in awe of alastair cook, that was the era of him and michael clarke, in between mccullum and ponting also did came up with their respecitve 302 and 221, but that was all in all for cook and clarke, cook dominating with scores of 294, 122, 176, 190, which i can recall, then clarke with 329, 210, 259, 230, have very fresh memories till day of every single test match from that period, used to wake up early in the morning to see the horrific collapse of indian batting lineup before going to school, dravid being the lone warrior, with 100s in england, 119 against west indies, laxman with 176, dhoni with 148, you see i still remember the exact scores, in the afternoon after coming back from school and moving to playground, all friends used to discuss about these matches, in the newspaper on the front page, headline displayed, "ghar mein sher, bahar dher", what a time i have had

This is also due to unparalleled rise of T20. No one wants to focus on test cricket. You should see how batsman play today, they have their bats up high and wanting to hit every ball. I remember Rahul David and his defensive batting style, especially with new ball. It was so difficult to get him out. But you don't see defensive batting today. Also, playing test cricket requires patience, planning and stamina. I think if things don't change in near future we might loose test cricket in future globally. I miss the cricket from 90s - mid 2000's.

In 2010-11 Gambhir,Viru Dravid, Sachin, VVS Zaheer, Bhajji In 2014-15 Murali, Dhawan, Pujara, Virat, Rahane Jaddu, ash Umesh It is a transition period every team will face this problem. Great teams find good replacements and survive e.g.. india, aus Some teams couldn't find replacements and face a fall e.g.. wi, sl. No need to blame captain for that he carried India through that period especially with that back to back SENA series with inexperienced juniors he backed them.

The difference came because of virat kohli taking captaincy it was such a terrible situation that even dhoni took retirement from test during aussie tour of 2014 Only positive I rremember was winning test match at lords but india lost the series 3 1 I feel after vk took charge from 2015 bangladesh test indias fortune changed then a dominating performance in sl then against sa at home in 2015 but 2016 aussie tour odi was terrible felt bad for rohit and then in it began to show dominance from 2016 to 2024 and goes on india never lost a test series in Asia they lost a test series in england in 2018 that was major loss and in 2018 won in Australia and in 2021 as well and drawn england series of 2021 virat made the difference recently also tied in sa 2023 but I remember due to conflict between bcci and kohli india performed well in 1st test of sa but lost it Soo vk changed the test cricket for india according to me he is the best test captain

Virat Kohli has been the best captain in test cricket atleast in India if not the world. I would say everyone to check the stats and see the manner of losses overseas when Dhoni was the captain.. In England we lost 4-0 where India lost the games by an innings twice and once by over 300 runs. Similar things happened in Australia 2011. Even South Africa won a test by an innings in India. And since virat has been the captain, series overseas has been very very competitive. India never let the game drift away and bounce back everytime our heads are against the wall..I dont remember any test match under Msd where we conceded a lead and ended up winning it because he used to surrender and get defensive in his approach. Glad that he retired from tests early.
