To be honest im kinda happy with the potential series defeat on few grounds: 1. Commentators such as DK and mostly all indian ex cricketers who refused to rate other teams highly and just praise indian cricket ever so highly. Even after 1st test defeat DK said india are hot favorites to win next 2 matches , favorites yes but not as hot favorites. NZ team have no real weakness they have spinners, fast bowlers and batsmen who can play spin fast equally well. 2. Indian avg consumers who rate an aggressive personality over those who are quiter but with more grace and class. I remember whenever india used to lose imp matches during dravid tenure people would bash him left right and center- that ohh he was such a defensive batsman now such a defensive coach we dont need him.. And people seemed super excited with Gambhir's appointment. Now Gambhir lost to SL in odi series (a first) and seems all likelihood to lose home test series (after many years). The ex-cricketers keep saying foreign players dont know how to play spin etc , pls look how our players play spin. Even after losing to SL recently they didnt learn anything.

True, they only can perform on true wickets where the ball doesnt do much after pitching. Only thing they are good at is reading length early. But movements sideways(swing or spin) negates the reading length early as not thjey also need to assess the lateral movements, which they are not good at. In these conditions the least they can do is to play time, but hey, they are not good at that as well

Sad to watch Kohli struggling like this and missing a full toss, he must feel dejected at his performances. Even when he has got himself a start in recent years, he has not been able to ruthlessly convert those starts into big scores barring the 186 he made vs Aus. I think India needs to prepare good batting pitches, as they have the batting strength on those types of pitches to score big totals quickly and win through scoreboard pressure. The 2016 series vs England is the perfect prototype for pitches they should play on. On these turning pitches the toss becomes so crucial and the game becomes a lottery, although India has been outplayed.

To summarize, it's not an easy pitch to bat on, the drs has forced changes to batting technique against the spin, so it's very difficult out there to bat. Why is NZ doing better? They have better techniques to counter spin than the Indian team and because of that if forces defensive fields and they were given easy singles, and they bowled with better speed. It's another way if saying we were bad. And now expecting Virat Kohli to turn up for Ranji matches when he can't wait to catch the first flight to London. I think DK is smoking something that only he knows.

A New Zealand fan from New Zealand here and I want to give you guys some advice. Don’t focus on the bigger picture this isn’t just a net session before the supposedly all important Australian series which is really only seen as prep for the WTC final, and you guys treated it like that and now look what’s happened. DK and everyone else from India forgets to give New Zealand the credit they deserve. Sure india are playing poorly but nz are playing at there 115% and people tend to forgot we can play both pace and spin, so you need to also realise your opposition. And also choosing to worry about ipl contracts was a huge mistake during a test series. I did warn you guys of a 3-0 Win for New Zealand and I’m extremely proud of my team.

I was watching an old clip of Sachin’s batting against the likes of Saqlain Mustaque on a turning pitch in Chennai where he made a brilliant 136 and it was batting at its sublime best. Ohh how I miss the batting prowess of guys like Laxman, Dravid, Sehwag and Sachin. I miss because this current team is simply not up there. When it is seaming, it collapses to 46 all out and it fails to reach 200 when it is spinning. Guys like Rohit and Virat have been utter disappointment, especially in the last 3 years. They have lost their hunger and this team needs players who are hungry for success.
