Cricket 24: A Six-Month Review!

I really miss when EA used to make cricket games. Imagine if they made Cricket 24; it would be a dream come true for cricket lovers.

I was not really a fan of EA's Cricket games to be honest. Extreme lack of variety in bowling and limited and arcadey batting. The one thing EA gets right always is the vibe and the atmosphere. Gameplay wise I prefer Big Ant's own first game Don Bradman Cricket 14 and The Brian Lara cricket series!

Seems like you didn't try out all Cricket games if you think EA is the best. Game was terrible, commentary was terrible with repetitive words used by the commentators. Even when the easiest catch chances were taken by our fielders, commentator said something like "that was an unbelievable stunning catch taken by the fielders" which in reality was so easy that the catch could probably taken easily even by a fielder with 1 side of his eyes blind. In EA, it was possible to even hit 6 sixes in 6 balls an over even in "HARD Mode difficulty" once you regularly play the game for just less than 2 months. Brain Lara Codemaster series was the best Cricket console/Pc game with its gameplay realism. Game modes were excellent too and way as compared EA who had names like D. dhenier, Tim Northee etc whereas in Lara Codemaster hardly any fake names. The game was realistic and sometimes a bit difficult even at Medium difficulty level but was extremely enjoyable for its gameplay even at Medium level unlike EA Cricket where it's more easier to hit more 6s than 4s while batting that too not even in Easy/easier mode but Hard difficulty..

I see so many negative comments on this game but I've really enjoyed playing this game, batting is more balanced than in cricket 22 where every shot could be a six. And the atmosphere in T20 games in stadiums, especially in career mode, is mind blowing, i have to sometimes mute my laptop because my family can hear that roaring chant from the Aussie crowd while playing at the Gabba. For people buying a cricket or sports game for the first time of even middle of the road experienced players, this is an awesome game ^^

Yea, see it is a really solid simulation for those who are playing for the first time or even for experienced players. I guess the backlash came from people who were expecting a "BIG" change from the last game - Cricket 22. Which is pretty fair to be honest as it is a highly priced game. But as a standalone game it is a significant leap over the nostalgia filled games of EA sports, in my opinion. But as a 2 yearly release they will have to give fans something new for the next release at least or the game face stagnation.

Hey, thanks! Well the location should not really matter. Both cricket 22 and 24 have some bugs here and there. If you actually wanna enjoy the game you can get Ashes cricket 17, but since it is an older game roster and stuff might be a bit outdated. Since c22 and c24 are both similarly priced, you can go for 24. It is not a great game, but enjoyable if you can ignore few issues!

Having primarily played DBC 14 and 17 all these years; is upgrading to 24 worth it? Or shall I wait for the next game that might come out next year as Cricket 26?

If you haven't played anything after 17, yes, it is definitely worth it. If you can grab a discount, go for it or if you have a PC or Xbox get it on game pass. It is much much better than DBC 17.

You can, graphically it is better than other cricket games. But just don’t go with expecting a Fifa like game. Feature wise game has most bases covered, it is just that it is not that gripping or exciting. Everything is there but nothing is out of the world , if you know what I mean

Is there a way we can reduce the six hitting distance to be realistic. Can we do some physics change. Because ideal sixes are going to 106m to 140m even 150+ distance . In reality max 106m-110m it can go

The “meter” distance might not reduce, but if you reducr shot force to 40-42 the sixes will be really hard to hit and you’ll struggle to hit it in to the crowds even

@@blackstar045 Yea, I am pretty sure you will need a dedicated gpu. Integrated cards won't cut it IMO. you can still try buy buying the game and if it doesn't work you can refund it - make sure you don't play more than one hour (steam)

The bowling marker issue is only for Arcade control IG. Couple of things they have also added extra includes bowing actions of Akthar, Boult, Murali, a new batting style which is the best among all 7. About lighting I guess it is subjective, I prefer the darker tone. The batting is also a little refined if you look at finer details. But overall not much of a change if you are looking for big whole sale changes!

It’s fine once you get a gang of it. It is definitely difficult than cricket 22 as they have made playing spin really difficult. + You dont really have a choice now, the arcade controls no longer lets you play sweeps so gotta stick to it 😀

If you like to play tests, then it is better than c22, because in c22 spinners can just run through AI team with catches at short leg for under 50 runs. The game is not bad, but it doesnt have any new groundbreaking features. If you want more licensed, little bit advanced graphics then you can get c24.

One improvement from c22 is that you will see a lot less ridiculous runouts by AI batters. Also fielding has improved as far as slow pick up and throw is concerned but there are other issues in fielding where sometimes fielders run to wrong line! As I said overall not much difference but slight improvement in all aspects. It is more like cricket 22.5 Please watch some gameplay videos as well

I believe the game only caters to die hard cricket fans and not casual cricket fans or game lovers. The game is just simply bland. Paid full price for the game, bought a new controller just so I can play this game on PC and it was not worth it. The career mode is lifeless and not worth it. There is nothing to grind for. Unfortunately I cannot refund. I get it that studio is small and new but they are literally just taking advantage of the fact that there are no cricket games. 7 months in and no major updates regarding the state of the game. Worst thing is there is no modding community which could assist the game. Im done buying games from this studio.

ea cricket 2007 is still so smooth you can play 5 to 6 matches in a day but big ant cricket is bad first its connect online second its still looks so slow like you have to sit around 2 to 3 hours to just finished the one match but still something is better than nothing i hope some day big boards like pcb bcci and england will make cricket game like fifa

Yes, but EA Cricket should not he the bench mark. Other than nostalgia the game really didnt have much. Getting sixes on every single ball, no bowling variety and laxk of fielding is not what you want. Big Ant’s Don Bradman Cricket 14 smashed every other cricket game out of the park when it released and along with Brian Lara cricket series is still the finest to play. EA games are more about glitz and glamour and less about simulation gameplay. They are more for arcade gamers

Batting is still easy even if you toggle with the sliders..cricket 22 difficulty was ok..even if you customizing the difficult, you can easily smash 100 in the powerplay in t20s

You can reduce the shot force to 38-40 to prevent that from happening + Pro controls, in my experience. Shot force is the real game changer.
