Even before the video ran, looked like we are going to hear from a nice, gentle, honest man. Felt very very sad.

Speaking as a "Pommie whats it": What a genuine gentleman. His arm doesn't appear to straighten to me from any angle. I agree with warren (below) - a complete injustice. I will certainly try and read his book. What a great bloke.

Great fella, Meck. Where other bowlers called for chucking whinged & moaned, he took the verdict with equanimity, stayed friendly with the ump who called him, and got on with his life with no bitterness.

My Dad used to tell me about him and the injustice of what happened, before my time as I was born in 1964. Should have been held up in the same way as Alan Davidson was but the Poms wanted him gone as he was a threat against them. A couple of those balls looked a bit dodgy but if he couldn't fully straighten his arm that should have been considered.

says his arm is permanently bent, yet in the photographs put up, you can see it does straighten just before the point of release

Always looked more of a slinger than a "chucker" to me. Bit like Malinga & Shoaib Akhtar later on.

@@RobertCoates-wn2ok I started umpiring 7 years ago after playing seniors for 40 years and I am amazed at the amount of sub continental players who actually chuck the ball now. I saw it back in my playing days but as an Ump you see it close up. I have raised it at Umpire meetings and told been to drop it as its not worth the hassle of getting the sport science guys involved. A pity for Meckiff he wasn't playing now.
