They all say, he didn't do well in SENA. Here is a proof. There was no score board pressure for him, Lyon would get loads because batters score a lot, top order is knocked out by pace batters, so when teams attack, Lyon would get those wickets. Situation is not same for Ashwin. He has done really well in Australia.

It's just he is too unlucky that because of our poor batting performances, it's always Ashwin that always chosen to be dropped because jadeja can bat with spin. India can have only "compromise with fast bowlers in terms of batting but not with spinners" policy that running since decade idk why. Unfair to him because he was picked for only pink ball test in this squad but in previous series, he played almost every matches in series. Got Out Smith most times and even out right handed batters most than left ones in australia still he was benched

Ashwin was one of those great off-spinner India has ever produced. Despite taking number of wickets, I must say he was underutilized in SENA pitches. If he had a type of captain which don't afraid of using spinners in SENA or maybe given priority to Ashwin most in these pitches, then numbers should've been different. He was always be picked as backup for Jadeja in SENA just because of lack in trust in our batting, wasted his opportunity in these pitches. How can you say that he can't bowl away from India when Moeen can take wickets in England, Lyon in Australia, Keshav in SA, Santner in NZ, then why not him? Even in Ganguly era, we used to trust in both Harbhajan and Kumble. He should have been given trust in quantities as this highlights shows that he mostly picked top& middle order batters than tailenders

He’s a legend who has had to fight against the tide at every point in his career. Post Dhoni he never had much support from the team mgmt but he proved himself almost everytime to force them to select him.

@ Post Dhoni he picked himself with his performances though full credit to Kohli who never worked to destabilise him the way Ravi Shastri and Manjrekar and a few others were trying to do. Virat made sure he was comfortable in the team and never played the kind of nasty politics that usually happens in the dressing room. He maintained a very healthy dressing room as a captain and he deserves full credit for that . But during Dhonis era Ashwin was a budding but promising spinner who needed a bit of backing. Something he got onyl from Dhoni . Full credit to Dhoni for that .
